Mazda 3`
We previously owned a Mazda 5 (2012) and now have a 2014 Mazda 3. Tires on the Mazda 5 were 205/55/16 and the new car is 205/60/16. I have winter rims for the 2012 car and am wondering if they will fit the 2014 even though the tire size itself is different. Also is 205/55/16 an acceptable 205/60/16 replacement as we also have tires that size from the last car.

Thanks!!

The 205/55s will be 0.8" shorter in diameter (will lower the car by 0.4"), so keep that in mind. But as long as the offset and width are similar, my guess is that it would work. If no one here has tried it, before, you can always risk a bit of money to have them mounted before the first snowfall.

Usually, tires of the same section width and reasonably similar aspect ratio come from the factory on the same width of wheel. In this case, the 16" OEM wheels shown by Midwest Wheel&Tire and OriginalWheel are 6.5" wide; that is also the width of 2014 (and maybe every other year) 16" Mazda3 wheels.

Bolt patterns and centre hole size match; I can only guess that the offset is probably the same.

The diameter change of using the 55-series tires is just within what is normally considered acceptable tolerances, but I don't think I would want to go shorter overall or shorter in sidewall for winter tires.
