I got a buddy who just bought a red manual 07 mazda3 sedan. In my opinion the clutch is a bit too soft. I may be wrong but I believe all clutches are electronic and can be adjusted. Is that true? If not what can be done to make the clutch a bit better?
Clutches aren't electronic...they're hydraulically controlled by your left foot. I'm just not sure what you mean by 'soft'. Are you saying you want the spring tension to be more difficult to overcome? This can be achieved by putting on a stiffer return spring, and / or replacing the Mazda pressure plate with an aftermarket example with greater clamping force.
There is a way to adjust it, but adjustment only changes the takeup point, it has little effect on the tension. I recommend you leave it alone and get used to the way it works.
Let the advantage of hydraulics work in your favor, man!
Soft is good, as long as operation is still 100%. Myself, I'd like to change the pivot point a bit, so I had less throw, at the expense of more effort.
If you want better feel with your foot, just replace all rubber lines with stainless braided. Big time diffrence!!! I did it in my buddy's EVO and plan to do it to my speed3 as well...
unfortunately the speed3's clutch isnt easily adjustable. and its also unfortunate you dont like the speed3's clutch, its actually tuned pretty well and isnt a bad set-up at all. just bring it to your dealership and ask them to tune it to your liking. then you dont have to **** with springs or hoses. you cant just adjust a bolt like on the speed6 so self adjustments arent just a 10 minute job. (which sucks IMO)
