Ok so since this MP3 is the first nice car I've owned, I'd like to keep it tip top. How do I go about washing an engine? I can't just go at it with a hose can I, I think I would flood something, do I just have to avoid certain parts?
Use a good quality engine degreaser, i like the foaming STP brand. Just spray it down really well, then wash it off with a hose using the flood pattern. Just don't focus it around the spark plug holes and coils. If you want a shiny look to the whole compartment you can use CD2's engine detailer after you've washed and dried everything. The detailer adds a nice touch..just don't over use it or you'll get a nasty build up.
Its best to use a sprayer with a shower effect...just keep it moving and it should be fine. Also what you may want to do is get an electric leaf blower to dry every thing off with.(be careful)
