Thats expensive, even for chameleon paint. My friend has a body shop and he paid $100 a pint on his truck. the only problem is every time you get a knick or scratch, it costs you $100 just in product (not including labor). It's just not worth it unless you're rich.
Heh, the guy I work for had a similar scheme on his Panoz Esperante GTS racer. The base coat was violet while the color shift was from blue to bronze to a dark red. It was really impressive. The paint cost roughly $1000 per quart. It was truely a beautiful car.
If done properly and used on a fitting car, it would be rather attractive. However, IMO, the Protege with the lines and curves (or lack thereof?) would not be a fitting car and this color scheme would be detrimental to its appearance.

one more thing i paint cars as a hobbie one pint of paint will not ever come close to painting a mid sized car maybee your bumper. you are going to need at least 2 or 3 quarts unreduced to get the coverage you need. if anyone needs some paint let me know i use house of kolor and i can get you a good deal

BECAUSE IF U READ THE DETAILS THIS IS UNREDUCED IT MUST BE MIXED WITH 605 REDUCER 1TO 1 WICH EQUALS 1 PINT. AND WITH A DARK BASE COAT U ONLY NEED 2 COATS FOR COVERAGE 1 IS ALLMOST ENOUGH, BUT U CAN STILL SEE THE BLACK BUT 2 COATS IS ENOUGH. TRUST ME MY FRIENDS IS BLUE TO GREEN.
AND WELL IF U FIGURE IT OUT THIS WOULD = 2 PINTS WHICH WOULD HAVE COST UR FRIEND WITH THE TRUCK 200. The paint is the Dupont paint and he owns a body shop, so he buys it direct from Dupont. Why buy chameleon paint if you are only going to do two coats?
Have you ever used this paint personally???? If you have you know that the more coats you add, the better the color shift is. Therefore, if you someone clips your bumper in a parking lot, you must sand a larger square off and re-apply many coats to get the color change to be uniform.shogunmx6 said:

yep i paint and i know that most dupont paints take more coats for coverage than sherwin williams we compaired both foe a special project. this paint is thick and cover a lot better than dupont .
which means
ur dupont 6 coats probably equal the same as 2 sherwin williams except u use more time and money.!!! thank u i rest my case and if a scratch is on ur car, and u use 2 coats then u sand the area not just a square and put on 2 coats. so u dont have a ghetto paint. trust me i worked in the color matching lab i know what im talking about. or whatever u want to think. well here is an example do u know what the recommended temp and humidity is for painting to keep color consistant/? prolly not. oh and i dont give a damn how many coats of any color u put on any car once it is covered, its covered and will not look any different!!!!!! 30 coats 50 coats or 2 coats that cover u couldnt tell the difference.

If I knew recommended temp and humidity, I'd be an automotive painter. I'm sure my friend knows what the Dupont rep told him since he's the body shop guy. His expirence has shown that extra coats (6-8) have better depth and contrast than 1-2 coats. I have never worked with Sherwin Williams personally, but I have seen proper/improper touch-ups for chameleon paint and his system is seamless throughout the color change.shogunmx6 said:

oh one more thing i am far from going broke, and in the custom car scene hok and ppg are used far more then sherwin williams i have never heard a customer who is going to spend 5 grand on a paint job say lets use sherwin williams instead. i think they make good house paint and you must not be very good in the lab if you think mixing 1 pint 1 to 1 will give you one pint
