center cubby touch sensitive USB light

:
2016 CX-5
this is pretty slick, a mini USB LED light that is turned on and off by touch

it's extremely bright and not reversible so the light can only shine upwards

I prefer shining down, so may return because it's so bright and blinding

and may get these instead that are reversible, they have contacts on both sides so it works either way

these are reversible but don't have the touch sensitive on/off switch and are always on so they are controlled by the CX-5 main power
the USB are switched so they turn off when the engine is off and vice versa

Nice find. I'm half a day into ownership and already ran into needing a light down there. On a side note, where do you have your AUX cable routed to?

Most likely, the resistor could be replaced, with a bigger one and then it would dim.

there's a tiny little gap between the cubby plastic molding and the "passenger airbag indicator" module, very tiny hard to see split but just enough to get a small AUX cabel connector thru, I snaked the AUX cable between that gap to behind the dash, makes for a much "cleaner" look instead of an unsightly dangling cable off the nice looking center console IMHO and I find the gap a lot easier to pass thru than tearing up the dash to just feed a cable.

you can easily remove the plastic panel by the passenger left leg shin area.... see below in my how to about unclogging AC drain....
once you remove the kick panel, you can reach your hand behind the dash and pull the cable thru.....

from there, I routed my AUX cable under the carpeting to my media player that is hooked up to my LCD TVs, kids love the TV on long road trips :) the media player can hold up 100's of cartoons, easier and alternative way would have been to just install iPad holders, but I prefer standalone and kids don't carry the iPads all the time.....

I have the AUX attached to my media player, but just a suggestion, snake it to the glove box or under driver seat and secure it there somehow and connect whatever device you want and leave it there hidden without worrying about someone breaking window to steal whatever is hooked to AUX cable......ie iPod, etc....
