Is anyone going for the carbon fiber hood treatment?
Call it what you want ( RICE ), but I kinda like the look.
The reason I ask is, a few days ago I hit a sign with my
matrix & damaged the front hood along with the bumper.
Sense the matrix is going to my girl ones I get the MSP,
she wants me to replace it with a carbon fiber hood &
it just got me thinking how it would look on the MSP.......

i don't know about the carbon fiber hood, but that one hood from the concept drawings looked tight! It was nicknamed the "baby evo" hood. Anyone have any info on that hood? cuase I would really like to get one of those!!! :)

heres the deal...the baby evo hood buy is dead. done. dead as a doornail. deceased. forks have been stuck in it.

which color msp are you getting rugged (i cant remember) im not a huge fan of the CF look and would probably paint one if i got one but thats also because i dunno how a black hood would look on a orange car.

if you are interested in that "baby evo" style hood from the concept sketch then lemme know rugged because i am almost certainly planning on having one made, and since we live relatively close maybe we could go in on it together......

carbon fiber hoods are not rice. They are JDM
Altezza's and chrome are rice
Puhleez. If they come from Japan, then yes, "They are JDM." (Of course, maybe I'm dumb and you need to define "JDM" for me. I always thought it meant "Japanese Domestic Market", as in the parts you would buy in Japan or for a JDM car. If it's something else, clue me in. If you mean "JDM-style", well, I guess that could be true.) Carbon fiber hoods are styling accessories for 99.9% of the people who have them. If you have a stereo or AC or power steering in a car with a CF hood, what's the point? You're not serious about saving weight, so it's a styling accessory.

JDM can mean many things
Yes Japanese Domestic Market stands for JDM. To make ones car look like a JDM car is to change it to factory JDM specs. Such as headlights, seats motor ect.

However this is not the only way to make a car look JDM.
JDM has taken a generic meaning. Nowadays to make a vehicle look JDM can also mean to make it look like a how a Japanese aftermarket tuner would make there vehicle look like or a specific style. Such as a drift car with banged up body work(very cool JDM battle scar points) old school japanese wheels ect. Or lets say a car from Signal auto that is accentuated with carbon fiber splitters and hood, huge turbo, section welded I/C piping(titanium is also the new rage over there), bride seats, takata harness's ect.
This is not the way a japanese market car came but in essence is japanese style.

The use of carbon fiber body parts and hoods has been a japan standard for sometime now.............hence the JDM term it is given

JDM is a style. That is what we are essentialy trying to do is mimmick there style. It can also be performance related as well.

Also many people in Japan are trying to mimmick usdm style on there cars.

A customer of mine just moved here from Japan and he said that all the boyracers have english writing on their cars because they think it's cool.
Also, not many people in Japan have cars because public transportation is awsome and traffic is extreme.
He said one in fifteen people own a car but I can't verify what he said.

I'm going for orange. I like this idea too, hope we take delivery at the same time so we can swap info & stuff........
The reason for me saying that one can call it "RICE", is cause I have noticed many people taking "RICE" to the extreme lately,
classifying any car with any kind of aftermarket appearance change done to it as "RICE". Just saying that I see to many people using it to loosely.
I agree 100% that a carbon fiber hood is a styling accessorie, I would be kidding my self to think that I'm going any faster with Carbon fiber hood..........

I can't believe some of the differences of opinion on the Carbon Fiber hood thing. I find this interesting because I have yet to meet someone in person who will admit that they think Carbon Fiber hoods are rice or are ugly. For some reason, a Carbon Fiber hood on a Civic is starting to take a ricey look, since it's becoming cliche'. Carbon Fiber hood on MP3's, P5's, WRX's, IS300's, Supra's etc. are very acceptable to me. Mainly because I don't see them everyday like I do on the Civic's. Carbon Fiber is an accessory item of course and I bet that a car with a carbon fiber hood that has a flawless weave will turn 10 times as many heads as the car without one.

My thoughts to those of you who don't like Carbon Fiber......

Don't hate man

And to those of you who actually think that CarbonFiber is rice, it's clear that you have a lot to learn about the import scene and style. :( It's been my experience that those who dislike carbon fiber hoods are usually newbies to the scene and still need guidence as to what looks good and what doesn't. It's also been my experience that people dislike JDM style, usually also dislike any rim that is not silver or chrome.

yea apexi i agree, i used to hate the way that carbon fiber hoods look, but now i love them, and im going to get one pretty soon. who cares if people at my school will be like "why the hell does jamie have a black hood". cause i like it and thats all that matters. mmmmm..... carbon fiber :)

LOVE HATE

I love real C/F if it's the real thing and really saves weight.
I hate C/F when it adds weight to the car like the C/F dash kit on my car. It was already on at the dealer so, I had no choice. They added the weight of C/F to the existing trim to make it look lightweight!
ANd the worst part- it's NOT even real!
I hate it but I can't peel it off.
Even Mercedes put fake C/F on the B pillars of my brothers car!
AARGH!

CF is ok in some applications but a black hood on my orange car? halloween anyone? thats why im cautious....

I think a CF hood on an orange MSP will look sweet, I am debating getting one when I get my MSP, whenever that will be. I like the two tone look myself, my fiance hates it.

I just put my Fiber Images hood on my MP3, and it looks great! I bought it because I had a dent in the hood ( a rock flew up from under another car). It actually cost about the same to get it fixed, so I went with the Carbon Fiber.......it was really worth it!!:D
