A buddy of mine who has a subscription to Car and Driver told me that in the new edition (hasn't hit newstands yet, and not on website yet) they had an article on the mazdaspeed protege with the BEGI turbo installed (I questioned this right off the bat). He said it gave the following stats; 210 HP, 0-60 in 6.0 seconds, and 1/4 mile in 15.4....

those numbers don't look right to me. If the this is true and the BEGI is running at 8 PSI, if it can get to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds flat, the 1/4 mile time would be somewhere in the 14.s range...

Does anyone out there hae this article to confirm?

Well for one thing the new Mazdaspeed will be running a Calloway turbo sytsem not the BEGI. So that is false.
As for the numbers...They don't sound too far off from what the new mazdaspeed should run.
Just have to wait and see :D

Yes, I know that the mazdaspeed is using a different turbo system, that is why I questioned it. It made no sense to me that they would put a different system in a prototype car that comes with a turbo system stock.

The 1/4 mile is around what the MS protege will run, but I've read the 0-60 time will be aorund 7 seconds. The 2001 MP3 0-60 is 8.4...

If anyone has read the article, I'd love to see EXACTLY what it says. :o]
