The kid that installed my Greddy BOV told me that if it wasent adjusted right that it could blow the engin is this true. Because I was thinking of adjusting it because the Greddy BOV is quiter then my factory one (what gives)? Heres a pic of the type-s BOV.

well i am no expert so i could be wrong, but i do not think having it adjusted wrong would blow your engine, since you could run a turbo kit without it, i think if you thighten the screw all the way in it will sound louder, but heh i dont have a greddy bov either, if anything your turbo would proly **** up first....

I dont know how

tight the screw is but it just seems like after these mods (new hard pipes and bov) that there really isant much difference and the BOV is quiter, so befor messing with the screw on the BOV I figured I would ask some of you more experenced MSP owners, cause that kid has me scared I dont want to blow my s*** up.

i would try setting the screw at its highest then at its lowest and check wich one sounds best for you, then go from there..

What dose the tighting

and loseing actually due to the BOV? Or whats it for? I mean how do u know how to set it to the right place?

i think it starts bleeding of some of the pressure earlier if its loose and oppsosite when its tightened...but for me when i thightened my bov it sounded louder

So should it be.........

One steddy sound or stutter? By this article at the greddy web page it says...........You don't want it too loose or it can open too early and you will loose boost. The valve should make one clean blowing sound, it should not stutter. It should also not open before the throttle is shut.
Well if thats true mine is wrong because mine stutters kind of like the factory one. So dose this mean its to tight or lose?

hmm damn i have no idea, maybe someone with more knowledge can help, wish i could help ya some more...you said the screw is in all the way right?

like i said i would try thightening the screw and see if its a clean sound if it doesnt try loosening it and check if it sounds better...trial and error i guess

Well......

the main thing I am worried about is blowing the engin while trying to fine tune this sucker. Because of what that kid said.

really the bov will not cause damage to your engine, alright beavis, 1st, dino, perf, someone confirm this cuase i also wanna be 100%sure

LOL....Ah you said Bevis....ugh, ugh, ugh..

LOL easy there butthead LOL.....I loved that show. Anyway I try it. And let you know the turn out.

ok you're not gonna blow your engine or anything by not tuning the bov correctly. now over a long period of time, an improperly tuned bov will lead to a damaged turbo but that's about it.

you're still gonna get a turkey sound according to members who have run the greddy type s. i believe ryan ran his open vent and still got a turkey sound. it just won't go away! just tune it to the point that it starts to hold boost fine and you should be fine.

The worst he can really do w/ the BOV is one of too things:

1-run rich at certain times (after a high boost and then put the car into neutral)

2-if he adjusts it too tight, he can get compressor surge and mess up the turbo over time.

Either way, his engine will be intact.

Oh, also to adjust it, there is a place to put a hex wrench in the middle. IIRC, firt loosen the nut at the base, then turn the stem via the hex wrench (tightening it increases tension, thus making it more likely to surge if put to an extreme). Loosening it will make it open easier. Then tighten the nut again.
