mazda 5 1.8 TS2 2009
Hi Guys,

I have recently bought a mazda5 1.8 ts2 2009 Petrol Engine, I live in the north of England.

I have a spare 20 litre container of 10w40 engine oil which is ACEA A3 compliant. I used to use this oil in my previous car and was wondering if it's ok to use in my mazda.

According to the manual it should be OK 10w40 is in the table (on page 8-20, unless I'm misunderstanding the manual!)... but the reason I'm being cautious is that it seems every website where you buy oil tells me to get 5w30.

Any advice appreciated,

Thanks

5w30 is going to be lower viscosity.

Personally, I would put the same type that's always been in it.

If the engine is of higher mileage and its always had a high a viscosity oil in, and you suddenly drain and switch to a low viscosity, you could be inviting trouble.

I thought the gasoline version of the 5 calls for 5w20. I would definitely not put 10w40 in it unless you have a very good reason to do so.
