Car won't start/broken Ecu sent to Cobb

(pow)
I sent my broken ECU with my AP to cobb this morning. When I Unmarried my AP to the car after that the car won't start. I think cobb can fix my ECU in the cobb tuning shop.

I have a question. When I unmarried the AP outside temperature was at -17 Celsius. It's to cold for the ECU to be flashed? If yes, Cobb need probably to put advise in the manual guide.

I Got a used ECU from a broken car and my dealer reprogrammed the used ECU to fit my car, if cobb rebuild my broken ECU can I put the rebuild in my car ? Or I need to go to the dealer to reprogram all the KM and my remote key and etc..

Because I want to run the AP in my car.. but I don't tried to flash my new ECU with my AP because it's probably my AP the problem and I don't want to have 2 broken ECU :P

Do you know if the AP have a Emergency Bad Flash repair? What happen if you disconnect the AP in a flash?

Thank you for the answers(pow)

I have flashed my ECU in -30 weather and not had issues.

The only way something should go wrong is if you disconnect the AP while you are flashing, or your battery is dead/dieing.

The AP V2 can usually recover from a drop in voltage or if someone kicks the cable loose, but not all the time. ( cobb forum )

first off I wouldn't have told a dealer what was up by doing that you voided the warranty.

did you try to reflash the ecu with the ap?

The AP don't see the ECU after the unmarried and my dealer don't void my warranty but I paid for the repair.

did the AP save the factory ECU setting when you installed the first map? idk but it sounds like the ap flashed the factory settings but didn't save them. Then when you unmarried the AP, the ECU was essentially a blank slate...I have no idea what I'm talking about. lol

You have a good answer :P

When I checked my AP after the Unmarried the state was at Not installed. But the Factory ECU MAP was probably blank

When you install the AccessPORT it will save your stock rom off of your ECU. However, it is saved into the AccessPORT and you will be unable to read or move that file, it is stored in the AccessPORT. When you uninstall the AccessPORT that file will be used to reinstall the stock calibration on your ECU. If you opt to not save your stock ROM during the initial install, a generic stock ROM will be installed.

If you interrupt the install or uninstall process or any other reflash, this CAN disable your ECU depending on where in the flash process you are. Reflashing in very cold weather could cause a voltage drop since batteries can lose charge in very cold weather which COULD interrupt the flash process.

If the AccessPORT is uninstalled after the uninstall process, then something else is going on.

You can check on my accessport soon. The AP was Unmarried to my Car. The batterie Was full of charge because I run +30 minutes before the Uninstall. And I don't interrupt the Uninstall I stayed in the car , I don't move and after Unmarried, the AP say something like that * Put the ignition key to off for 10 seconde and after put the ingnition to on ( but I don't start the car I looking to my accessport after that and on the AP I can read Unable to connect to the ECU.... .And yes I save my stock ECU MAP before putting the Stage 1 + SF 91.

After that the CAR LOCK LIGHT in the dash flash.. 1 flash. 1 seconde off, 1 flash, 1 seconde off... ALL my ACC feature work with the KEY at ACC position but when I try to start the car nothing append and my friend at Mazda are not able to connect is computer diagnostic to my ECU he say the ECU was Broken or corrupt . He installed a new ecu.

I called Christ at Cobb today, They are not able to repair my ECU at this time, it's not the same problem than other persons on this forum. Cobb ask me a copy of my receipt for my new ECU unit and will try to refund me a part.

Cobb is the best company I have seen for guaranteed until today. Thank you and don't be afraid to deal with this Company. They will try to found a Fix about that.

It's good to see that Cobb is standing behind it's customers. Thanks for the info and good luck.

something similar just happened to me earlier in the day while trying to flash a new map. I should have known something was wrong when I tried updating my firmware yesterday and it wouldn't work. Anyway, the the AP froze while flashing and eventually the "cannot connect to ECU" screen showed up. I immediately tried starting the car. Same deal as you, car alarm thing flashes really fast, lights work, radio works, but no start. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the mazda dealer charge you for a new ecu?

1400 for the new ecu + 400$ for the reprogramming and diagnostic + Taxes

I will call Cobb tomorow to see if they have update about my ecu but last week they said they can't recovery or repair my ECU
You need to call cobb and send your ECU with the AP to the shop. But you will loose your car fort 2-3 weeks..if they are able to recovery the ecu... Good luck man let us informed
