Hi my Cigarette lighter has been broken since i plugged in an air compressor to put air in my tires and it hasn't worked since. I tried the Red 20 amp fuse in the Kick panel it is fine that is not it! Are there any little hidden fuses behind this thing? What's the big secret in fixing this thing? Might be your unit itself. You can go to most auto supply stores and find a new one for less than $15 it's a universal part.

If i'm not mistaken, if you take a really small screwdriver or something very small behind it you can pull it out of its socket and you'll be able to see the 2 wires. (12 volt power and ground.) If that doesn't work you just need to remove the center unit (Look around for where it would be bolted in) then it usually has one screw in the back.

Then just rewire the new unit.

Those things really aren't complicated it just needs a 12 volt supply and a ground. don't worry no matter what it will be an extremely simple fix.

Thanks BP but the thing is ive herd on multiple occasions that this 12v cigarette lighter has given people other problems to and it wasn't an easy fix. One guy said he took his car to Mazda and they wanted to charge him $300.00 to fix it. Ill try running an Electric meter to it and see if i have current running to it in this case probably not! Ill probably just replace it that's the last thing id want to do though because it's a pain in the neck removing that whole entire center console

Yeah but for mine you have to take the whole entire center console off and remove the Shifter knob and ive actually broke my center console tabs trying to take it off it was really annoying. Hey if its worth replacing the cigarette lighter why not? i might as well.

Every car in the world with a cigarette lighter has 2 wires for it. 12 volt and ground.

If you really don't want to take apart your center console then it looks like you're paying $300.00 to fix it.

My cigarette lighter is on a huge wire that goes under the center console and into my backseat.

I rather not have to take it apart if i dont have to . I wouldn't be foolish enough to pay some creep at Mazda $300.00 to fix my cigarette lighter i just havn't got the chance to replace it yet but within the next week i will.
