Mazda CX-9 - Touring 2011
Hello everyone. I bought a 2011 CX-9 Touring two weeks ago with 41k miles on it. It is brilliant black

Honestly - it's the first foreign car I ever bought. So far it rides like a dream! I will be sure to peruse the forums here, but I had some questions:

1.) Does anyone experience wind noise (left ear, driver's side)? It seems as it the window is not closed all the way or the seals are loose - yet, seals and window are fine. Any cheap quick fixes or ideas?

2.) Any recommendations for molded mud guards (without having to pay the Mazda OEM price)?

3.) Any suggestions on where to order roof rails (rail only) other than e-Bay?

4.) What issues have you encountered with this year and model? I read about transmission and brake issues in some.

Thank you!

Welcome! I'll let some others chime in on the some of the questions, but: wind noise from what I can tell is a known issue. I think I've seen some fixes/gripes mentioned on the forum.

I would say Ebay is probably the best place for OEM parts from other Mazda dealerships around the country. I usually just search for the part number and someone like Tasca or ZoomParts usually has it for a decent price (just did this with the factory cross bars for the roof rack actually). I totally understand if you have aversion to using Ebay though :)

I'll let 2011 owners chime in on drive-train issues.

Also, throw up some pictures when you get a chance! (drinks)

Congrats on the purchase! My 08' has 76' on the ticker and still drives like new.
The wind noise I'm not sure about. Funny story though, if you have your sunroof open or propped up, the wind actually channels down through the A-pillar trim, into the door panel, and a little bit of air comes through the switch area for the power windows, on the driver door, at least on mine.
Regarding mudguards, Weathertech is now making mudguards, "no-drill." They are an AWESOME company. When my all weather mats from Mazda died (after 2 years) I bought some Weathertech mats, and they are great.
Roof rails... I recommend factory rails and aftermarket flat crossbars. My car came with oem crossbars, but the oem crossbars are curved, so my mountain bike sits at a funky slant because the crossrails are curved. You might check "www.car-part.com" not to be confused with carpart.com. car-part searches salvage yards. It should be called "luggage rack." Find a good used complete assembly.

2011 is a good year. You shouldnt have any trans issues unless you have all wheel drive. All wheel drive models have a direct drop-in transfer case from the Ford edge, same part number and everything, it works for about 40-75k miles and then is junk and you have to replace it. But the aisin trans is rock solid. I've drained and re-filled mine once, and with 76k miles, still like new.

Brakes suck on our CX-9's, that's just the way it is. Rotors are too small. Brake with extra distance! lol.
