brake pad backing plate mess on wheel

So one of the rear brake pads ground down to the backing plate, leaving a dark iron powdery-looking mess on the wheel. Although it looks like a coating of brake dust, it won't come off with soap/water.

Does anybody know how to remove this? I haven't tried any cleaners yet, besides soap/water.

How long did this go on? Shouldn't have stuck that hard yet. But anyway, there have been a few cleaners talked about here you can search. But my suggestion would be to find a Harley Davidson dealer there in Mass and pick up a product called s100 Wheel Gel (made by p21s). One of the most amazing cleaners I have tried to date. If cleaner alone won't get it try a claybar with it. If that doesn't work get your hands on a steamer with a high pressure nozzle. If none of that works then you have a bigger issue at hand.

The dust deposited over a week and has been there for a couple months.

I'll pick up the s100 this weekend. Thanks for the advice!

Ah! Yeah that could be an issue. May need to let the s100 sit on the wheel for a bit before you clean it. Just don't let it dry on the wheel. Hope is works.
