Brake Boosting...how to pull this trick off?

OK, seen plenty of vids, ppl taking about Brake boosting. Cant find anything anywhere about how to actually do it. Ive experimented with a few things trying to duplicate the rocketship acceleration I have seen in vids provided by this driving technique, but cant seem to pull it off. Anyone know how to do this without risking the powerplant?

Generally associated with automatic transmissions. Hold the brake pedal down while winding the motor up. When the RPMs get to 2,500 or so (my Ram), punch the gas and release the brake. The Ram lays down two nice, long black stripes. Also rough on the tranny.

as said, this is mostly an auto trans thing. I suppose you could do it on a manual, but you'd be slipping the clutch while loading up the engine with the brakes on... it would take some VERY talented heel/toeing, and would be worse for a clutch than it is for the torque converter of an auto.

With an manuel car its usually used when racing from a roll... keep the car at whatever rpm you want to start at with left foot braking, then build up the load/boost on the car with the gas pedal on the right foot.

With a car that is built a little bit better to handle it (evos), it seems to work for them.. But I guess it works for our cars too but at the cost of what when our cars are as fragile as they are already...

its used from a roll on turbo cars to build up boost and have no turbo lag once the third beep comes around... just ride the brake while giving it gas to keep the speed the same while building rpms and boost, then release brake and give it gas after the third beep.

I have been told the MS3 clutch is rather robust, was i misinformed?

Its not the clutch to worry about but the built up load on the engine... With all the engines grenading like they have been I wouldn't chance it.

define all, the amount of engines going seems really really small especially when you take into account the numbers of vehicles ours motors are in.

but even if we were talking MS3's only. the numbers seems really small

Ok, question answered and technique can be disregarded as unintelligent, dangerous, and pointless, especially due to the fact that in third or fourth, we have practically max boost from the instant the Go Fasta pedal hits the floor.
I think we can lock and kill this thread.

it's extra wear and tear on pretty much everything, from the clutch to the engine, trans, cv joints, brakes, whatever

i don't recommend this at all

lets say your gonna go from a 2nd gear roll. all you do is put the car in 2nd and press the gas and the brake at the same time, your see your boost climbing and then the three horn honks release the brake and BLING BAMO

iono what everyone is talking about. ive been break boosting this car since after the break-in period. nothing has gone wrong with the car except for a broken shifter (unrelated incident). works well when you're racing against faster cars. ive ran many faster turbo cars who'd have to wait to spool up but id get a head start and hold my lead or, in some instances, even pull away slightly.

my friend went to test drive a MS3 and 09 RX8 yesterday.

and (unfortunately) he said he and the salesmen were our raping the cars. the Salesman had never driven a MS3 and didnt know how powerful they were.

so after my friend drove. the salesman wanted to drive and was driving the car really hard, shifting really hard and broke the shifter in the MS3

drove the car back to the dealership in 2nd gear. parked the car and acted as if nothing happened(shady)
