2003.5 Mazda Speed Proteg
Took a test drive this morning.
The car I drove had no stereo, dealer removed them to prevent theft.
Oh joy :), but they gave me the chance to listen to everything.
Nice ride, love when the power comes on, but you have to alert at the wheel. In general I very very impressed the car. (guess so I bought it)

The dealer I was at made me a decent offer, but I talked to the guy I was going to buy the Sport GT from and he countered it very well so I went with him in the end.

I did opt for an extended warranty. 6/160,000. I had a 6 year on my 97 Cavalier and it paid for itself several times over. Maybe I did not need it with this car, but its my first Turbo and our primary car. So for $25 more a month, its peace of mind. I hope.

I should have my brand 2003.5 Yellow SPEED by Friday.

Thanks for all the input folks.

$1800 for a warranty??
But wow - that's less than $0.04 per hour!

Yep, I have friends who are car sales people. They can work numbers like you wouldn't believe.

congrats man welsome to the mazdaspeed world. You'll love the car! oh and the day you get it go find a nice long twisty road :) Best of luck to you!

dont get the warranty its a rip off at $1800 they took u good. Back out of it asap.

nah the warranty is great, at least galpin is, my warranty has already payed for itself also. I blew my transmission, ripped my motor mount bushings, cracked the windshield (stresscrack) replaced the shifter bushing, and warranty covered it all without costing me a cent.

u have a free 50,000 miles warranty why dont u use that
because he probably plans to drive more than 50000 miles. any warranty that'll cover the car for a long period of time is better than having a shorter one

btw, congrats (mj)

ditto

I hope you don't plan on modifying you MSP. Almost any mods, void your warranty.

No mods, I'm happy with the way the car is. Hence why I bought it.

This is our main car and with this extended warranty I get 6 yrs road side.
Rental if its in the shop and ZERO decutable on the parts. So say the turbo go boom for some stupid reason after 3 yrs. I'm covered. Peace of mind.
Maybe I wasted $1500, but I'd rather not find out the hard way.

At any rate the point is I own a MSP... Corks are popping.

hey theres nothing wrong with that, congrats on the speed !

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that. Most people that buy our cars, want to mod them. :-)

Oh for sure and I know just doing a little work and unlock a couple more HP, but for the time being I'm going to enjoy this machine for what it is.

I just had a blast during the test drive. The dealer who went with me had never been in one either. So he got a kick out of it too, was useful and I got to get a feel from the passenger side.

When i get the car next week I'll give it a few 100 KM to allow for some break in time, I also need to adjust to it and then we're going on a few road trips. :)

Speaking of adjusting. I hopped into my cavalier after the test drive.
Good lord! Can't wait.

hahaha...i could hardly believe the rush i felt when i drove it the first time either...much different from the miata. now i drive my car everywhere. have fun !

The Rush, The Sound... Amazing

Yeah When I started off in the car for the test drive I noticed how quick it was, but I kept it under the boost limit until I had it on open roads. Then push the pedal and heard it for the first time... A little whiggle from the steering and we were off. I will have to work with my wife to get her used to driving this car because if your not expecting that surge in power I'm sure you can get out of shape fast.

To me I feel this car is the "modern" version of my classic.
Employs all the high tech "go fast bits", but its not an over done BMW or something like that. Basic, clean and to the point.
