Bose Audio/Nav Display

Is there any way to get the audio system to display station and song information, or to display the song title of a CD?? I can't believe a $40K vehicle is this limited.

What year CX-9? It will show CD TTAG info as long as the Disc was mastered with the TTAG data. The same holds true for station information. It should as long as the Station broadcasts RDS .

It's a 2010. It might show the call letters of an FM station, but nothing else. Also, no song information from commercially bought CD's.

Not all commercial CDs are mastered equally

I'll double-check it myself today but just because it's a commercial cd doesn't necessarily mean it has the necessary data encoded into it. Same is true for radio.

An easy test would be to burn a basic music cd in iTunes and make sure you choose "include CD text". I"ll do the same. It could be that I'm confusing the features of our 6 with the 9. The 6 only has the MID/Display not Nav. I'll know more tonight.

I verified the CD Title info is displayed on the Nav Screen when a CD plays. The thing is you need to go the the music screen (via pressing the right knob from the Map) to get Title and artist info. Otherwise the screen will show you a running time banner in Map mode for a few seconds when you start playing a CD. I have not confirm the RDS info.

What I would really like also would be the split screen. My buddy has a '09 Escape Limited w/ NAV & it has the Sirius travel Link, and you can split the screen to have the nav & the radio. Also it has the weather, radar, fuel prices, etc, and of course the SYNC. I was suprised when I got my '10 GT, b/c I figured it would be similar, but not even close :( And he ordered his Escape with EVERY option checked & it was $33k.

Sync is the industry standard for car infotainment. Problem is Ford had exclusive rights to the tech until last year. It would be extremely expensive for a small automaker like Mazda to invest in such technology without backing. Even Microsoft backed Ford. Doesn't anyone research this stuff before spending 33K? :-)

Doesn't FORD still own at least 30% of Mazda? so if it desired to do so, Mazda could have worked out a deal with FORD.

Ford now owns 13% of Mazda. In US, a company needs to owns at least 30% to claim ownership of another.
Ford sold 20% of its shares to get cash, thanks to bad economy.
Mazda is no longer a member of Ford "family", nor are Volvo and Jaguar.
However, both sides claim to continue technology cooperation model going forward.

Thanks ceric, 13% is actually still a large share of the firm, so Mazda could still work out a deal with FORD.
