To you guys with the protege5 bosal cat-back exhaust systems:

I was doing a little thinking, and it is really hard to find someone with the bosal cat-back in stock, and it is taking forever to restock, but everyone I talked to has protege sedan bosal bolt-ons in stock. The only difference with the sedan bosals and the pro5 bosals is the sedan cat-back has a slightly longer tip on the muffler can. Being bosal, the tips are interchangable, so... here is what I need from some one. COuld one of your guys with a pro5 bosal catback measure the length of your tip, diameter, or just check out this website and try and figure out which tip is theirs? Even if it is just the length, diameter and stats of the tip, it would help me a lot.

I plan on buying a sedan model bosal cat-back system and just screw on a tip that fits with our cars.

Thanks for any help.

Equinox.....the P-5 tip isn't on that list.....as its not considered an OPTIONAL replacement tip. you may have luck if you write bosal and ask them if you can buy the tip for the P-5 system seperately and ask them for the part number.....

HOWEVER>.....there is another solution....the tip that comes on teh sedan system lookes just like the P-5's only longer....the TIP is welded to a flange which bolts to the muffler.....after you get the system...simply unblot the tip from the muffler. grind off the weld that connectst the tip to the flange....btw the tip is nothing more than straight tubing that is angle cut on the end....THEN shorten the tip to the length that YOU want it to be...and have it rewelded to the flange...then bolt it back up. just remember when you do this to ensure that the cut of the tip is lined up with the bolt pattern on the flange so that when you put it on...it will look right.

I just measured my tip....the outside diameter is 3 inches...and from the flange to the LONG side of the tip, which is at the top, is 1.7 inches.

I live in an apartment so don't have many tools, and definatly not a grinder, tho I may be able to pay off a muffler shop and see if they do it right... how terrible does the can look with no tip on it at all anyways? Like one of those rice cans?

Appreciate all the info, it will come in handy.

omg....the muffler would look like POO POO with no tip on it at all....and if you find a good muffler shop that will do TIG welding....they will be able to do the job easy enough....

HOWEVER....IMO.....the muffler would look a LOT better with the sedan tip ON it rather than with no tip at all.....so what if the tip actually sticks out past the bumper.....better than no tip....which if you were sitting in traffic...might very well end up putting fumes IN your car...seeing as how the opening of the muffler would actually be under the edge of your car.
