Bolting down a sub box.

Does anyone know if it is possible to bolt a sub box down to where the little "D" hooks in the hatch of a Pro5 are bolted in? Or any other way to securely mount one without havin to cut/drill to many holes in the interior? Ive searched but can't find anything other than a guy using a bungee cord. Any input from someone else would be great. It would be a fairly small sealed box by the way.

i went to home depot and bought stick on velcro. Then i put it on bottom of box and then put teh box on the carpet mat in the back. Works perfect and doesnt move one bit. cost - about 8 bux.

Hey, thats not a bad idea, but I guess I should have mentioned that I also have the cargo mat/tray in the rear. Thinkin i may just bolt it down through that into the harboard panel below the factory carpet. Anyways, thanx for the quick response.

I used L brackets for mine. Although they can be removed easily (should someone steal it), there are marks clearly in the carpet, so insurance can't give me any lip about it not being secured to the car plus it keeps it from sliding.

Just FYI, the gas tank is located under the seat area, so if you drill through the metal in the trunk area, it shouldn't be that big of deal. I wouldn't use a long screw, just long enough to penetrate it to hold it down. I have the L brackets on the front side of the boxes too. You can always paint them if you want to disguise them as well.

The problem with velcro: If you remove the box, it may pull the velcro up along with it unless you can really glue it on there good and staple the other side of the velcro to the carpet.

The problem with L brackets: You would have to have a screw driver in your car should you have to get to the spare tire to unscrew them and be careful not to scratch the plastic inside or outside body since they would be poking out.

No You Don't understand...

Take a 2 foot piece of the hook side and fold it over on itself (Glue,Sew)...The carpet on the box and carpet on the floor...

I have two such pieces and it moves not...

Add more as you need them.

To remove the box use an egg flipper!!!

Where do you get such large sheets of velcro, might I ask? I'm going to need to mount a box in my friend's car soon...and the bottom is unfinished MDF...everything else will be bondo'd and painted...so L-brakets are kind of out of the question.

Installing in a Scooby Legacy...and I want the sub pretty far back from where a cargo net would be, anywho...soo...any locations to purchase big vecro sheets again?

Use a staple gun to hold it to the underside of the box and don't be cheap with the amount you put on!!

Good luck unless you are using small woofers or a custom fiberglass enclosure. Otherwise, that is the ideal way plus you have trunk space left over.(boom01)

The box I made is already sealed...and it's getting bondo'd etc...so...bolting it through the body isn't much of an option. The rest of her system is stock as well...so it's not going to be very noticible except by her in the car. And I'll set-up her folding seats and trunk release so that they'd really have to work to get the thing out.

Unless there are other suggestions, I don't really have anything else in mind.

**** the theivery!!! Practical isn't drilling holes in your car. If I wanted to steal something and the box was bolted to the car, I would just put my fist through the sub and walk, Same Diference!!
