Only took me 8 years to get back into another Mazda...I just couldn't stay away. :)

I was here back in the MazdaMP3 days and left after I traded my '02 P5 for a Subaru Legacy GT. The only other car I considered at the time was the new and yet to be released MS6. Well after a couple years in the LGT and then in a Cadillac CTS-V I'm back. :) Only a temporary stay until I can get into a new CTS-V.

Welcome back.... U on NASIOC as Bacdoc ???? Nice color allmost as nice as VR.... ;)

howd you like the 1st gen CTS-V? I've been eye balling one for a few weeks now.. espically since they're so cheap for low mileage ones these days.

Yes. That Subaru landed me there. Never left.

Loved it. It had it's issues but I had the extended warranty which was nice. I sold it because I want a new V2, and the guy offered me too much money to pass up.

OOoo someones back to mazda, and a nice MS6 to boot!
mebe you'll enjoy it so much, you'll think twice about getting rid of it as your temp car... :P

Welcome back. I recognize your name from NASIOC also.

I used to have an '05 WRX wagon and still frequent the subie site.

Doc, your car has a sublaxation that has resulted in excessive wheel gap. Some manipulation is in order (RPMStreets); the car will look and feel better. :)

(Had a back injury, picked up some of the lingo)

:D

Wouldn't dare. ;)

How are you liking the MS6?

I like it. Fun to be back in an awd turbo car. Must resist mods....

I do miss that rwd instant torque of my V. I haven't stalled a car in years until now.

BTW I have some play in the steering. I can feel a bump and hear it up front too. Steering rack issues?

Hey Doc, glad to see you made it over from WVMS even though it appears you have been here long before I even thought of a Mazda, lol.

Btw, took the liberty to drop that car a bit for ya... haha

Looks really good. Little than I would like but nice.

Yeah this was really my first forum experince. From here I landed a mod gig on one of the biggest forums on the net.

Welcome back. That thump you hear/feel in the steering can be fixed by unlocking the steering wheel adjustment and running it all the way through its travel a few times. If you do this every week or two, you should be all set. Has something to do with the grease on the steering column. Hope this helps.

Reading the what to do first thread is the motor mount a must in these cars? And is the AP basically worthless without mods? I must resist modding but damn this car is fun.

I'll be able to answer the second shortly, my AP shows up in the mail tomorrow. From reading the Cobb documentation, there are maps that are just for the stock setup, including one for fuel efficiency, so it will do things for the car even if it's completely stock. I intend to do some initial data logging on the stock map and see how the car performs before I install any maps or aftermarket engine components.

I'm considering the mounts or revising the shifter, I'm just not happy with how the car shifts at all. I still don't always get a smooth shift...once in a while I can understand but I get little misses frequently and a bad one more often than I'm happy with. It's not a problem I've had with any other clutch I've used, so it's annoying. :)

Thanks! Keep me updated.

As for the shifter, don't complain. I came from a CTS-V which had the worlds worst shifter and a short throw and bushings were a must to even drive the car. Absolutely the worst ever. The clutch in the MS6 is a bit weird though, kinda stiff, kinda sticks, ... weird but I've had worse.
