best way to keep engine cool?

seems like heat is my biggest enemy when it comes to my car. after a few runs it looks like the engine gets really warm and the car has a bit of struggle and does not pull all the way like it usually does.

what do you guys suggest i can do with my battle againtst heat? i was thinking to heat wrap my IC pipes, expecially the charge pipe thats right by the exhaust manifold...will that help? what else could i do?...i can beat my friends 06 sti off a roll for a couple runs until my car gets too warm under the hood and then its just all downhill for me :(

I think a vented hood would help a bunch...lets all that heat to go somewhere. Seriously I can see the light-bending heat when the car is on!

Stock? Modified? A little info about your setup would be nice.

Better intercooler (front mount), heatwrap on IC pipes, water injection, phenolics, remove your A/C condenser, etc.

If your looking for cheap ways to help your car stay cool, you could try putting spacers on the hood hinges and removing all the wheather stripping.

wrapping the intercooler/exhaust pipes is another way. and if you spent the money on the heat wrap, then throwing some water wetter in the radiator couldn't hurt either.

don't know if its cold where you are now, but leaving the heater on will also help dissapate some heat.

removing the thermostat is another way but it has its drawbacks.

Wouldnt water get into the engine bay if you take the weather stripping off? Seems like kind of a bad idea in the long run.

Pretty much what Metallargy said....

Vented hood, Phenolic Spacers, Ceramic Temp Coatings on Manifolds or Heat Wraps, FMIC, Upgraded Radiator, Low Temp Thermostat, etc..

If you still have the stock interwarmer than that is the first thing you should replace, a good front mount or even a side mount is way better than the stocker. I used to have the same thing, a run or two and the car felt so heavy not anymore now with a FMIC. I can run all day and it still feels the same.
