I got a little money for Christmas and would like to pick up an OEM remote starter. Do anybody know the best (cheapest) place to do so?

IMO get an aftermarket unit. I have worked for audio shops doing remote starts in the past
the aftermarket unit is better hands down. the factory unit (many times is the cheapest company they could get to make a unit for them) has a range of what 100 feet. most my remote starts which all have 2 way remotes i can start depending on location 1000 feet and since i can't see the car my remote says the car started. aftermarket units are less expensive. most units have a life time warrenty on the brain unit. remotes are cheap to replace and the unit can be removed to fit another vehicle
the aftermarket unit will still unlock your doors and many times has options for something more. I recomend you do the heated mirror mod its free and turns on your heated mirrors.
many of my cars i put alarms on just to replace the factory remote because they suck. If i can't find my car no problem i have the range in my remote to chirp the horn
the factory remote you nearly have to be standing next to the car by that time i have obviously found the car.

BTW don't think you can install these your self, you can fry the bcm and ecm just by using a volt meter. Autozone really needs to stop selling these things to people.
well if you have like some 85 cutlass sure its only a few wires.

thats my .02

IN the case of the Mazda5 your only option is to go afternarket, there is NO OEM remote starter option for the 5 (at least not in NA )

These aren't the responses I was hoping for. I know that Mazda has a remote start available for my 5. I just don't want to pay my dealer $360 plus $200+ for installation if I don't have to. Installing the unit wont be a problem for me. This will make the 4th or 5th unit that I have installed. I am not interested in an aftermarket unit. I like the specs on the OE one. I know there is a dealer that people on this forum like to use because their prices are good, I just can't remember which one it is.

do you have a part number for this remote starter? it's not on the option list for the 5! I'm guessing it's just an aftermarket system your loacal dealer is offering as an option

I've ordered from buyourmazdaparts probably 5 or 6 times now and have had excellent service from them. Shipping is out of AZ, so it might be a little closer to the OP.
