Battlefield 2

Demo is out right now, actual game comes out soon. I've been playing the demo and must say that it is very bad ass. Game feels solid as hell. I will probably buy the game once it comes out, its a lot of fun.

The demo only has one map to play on but single and multi-player are in the game. There are 3 sizes to each map supposedly. If there are 16 people playing, each map has 16 player, 32 player and 64 player versions.

Download the demo.

Some of it feels like DC. I haven't played DC in about a year though. It's a really good game and I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of mods come out for it later on.

I'll buy it if the maps are good. I was totally impressed by wake island in the BF1942 demo and that turned out to be the best map, so if the one in the BF2 demo is the best I don't think I'm interested.

Based on the demo, I'd give it about a 9/10. I might give it a 10/10 if it didn't crash to desktop every time I try to start a single or multiplayer game. Thats right, it hasn't worked ONCE for me and I've tried different drivers, the video.con editing fix and NOTHING. Thanks for the rushjob EA.

AMD Barton 2500 @ 3200
1 GB DDR 400MHz RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB

Its based on the release code coming out next week... But its far from releasable. Its like BF 1942 all over again. At least BF 1942 was playable. SUre the sound crackled a lot, but I could see if it was worth purchasing. As soon as I click "Launch Game" from Single or Multiplayer menu, it tries to do a resolution switch and crashes right to desktop.

i find it really laggy/choppy - i dunno
i need a new CPU 'n RAM
Athlon 2200+ w/ 1GB DDR 400mhz (valueram stylez, though)
vidcard is an Asus Geforce 6800GT 128MB-DDR

feces, i say.. FECES!

runs great for me with a barton 2500+ @ 2.1, 6800 GT @ 410/1100, and a gig of ram. Try getting rid of unnecessary processes by removing them by running services.msc. I sometimes even kill explorer.exe and launch the game from the task manager to make sure I have plenty of ram free.

edit:
Btw, these are the only services you neeed running for gaming in windows xp:
Dcom server process thinger (only if you have service pack 2)
plug and play
remote procedure call
windows audio

the rest can be eliminated, although you may lose some functionality. I leave workstation running so I can access my network shares.
