Balance crank after forged internals?

Hi all,

I see a lot of people building their FSDEs with forged rods and pistons, but I have never seen anyone mention anything about balancing the crank after changing to those rods and pistons.

Based on what I read and heard, that is something important for an engines longevity.

Any thoughts or did I misread something?

The first fs motor I built was not balanced and it ran great but any performance based build is not complete without a balanced rotating assym... The build I have in my msp now is micro balanced and the difference is not a major noticeable difference but that's not saying it does nothing.... I can assure you the longevity of your bearings is affected by a properly balanced bottom end.. but immediate difference will not be noticed this is over time ie. 100k of beating on it....One thing I could tell right away though was how smooth the motor idled how quite it was and how much easier it was to rev compared to my previous motor idk if it was just me but it did feel like my motor was just all around smoother....If your debating on whether you should do it or not I say do it because building these motors aint cheap and it was fairly inexpensive compared to the other machine work I had done ($150) at my local machine shop..
