Autometer Gauge Question

Was going to post this elsewhere but figured I would get a faster response here. I am installing an autometer gauge today and saw that I should wire the power to the dimmer switch since the gauge well then go on and off with the lights. From a how to I read there are more than just two wires for the dimmer switch so I need to know which one I should tap for power, the green wire or the white wire?

Why dont you test them both? Im going to rewire my gauges today. They are installed but i was having power problems so i am going to try and relocate it to the same place that you are....so well see..

I'm pretty sure that the green wire is the power. Got a test light. Would be perfect for this.
