Auto-X Tire Question

1992 Miata / 2003 Pathfinder
I just got a set of wheels, 2 w/ used (abt 1/2 tread left) Falken Azenis Sports, and I'm getting another pair of the same tires (new) to put on the other 2 rims. Which tires should I put on the front / rear and why please? I'm thinkin new 1's on the front, seeing as that's where we need better traction, but I dunno.

Thanks for the info.

Put the newer ones on the front. Did the rims you bought have the 215 Azenis or the 615 Azenis? The 215's aren't made anymore, but you can buy the newer 615's and put them on the front no problem.

I think the 215's. I bought the same kind off of discounttiredirect.com. Here's the tires that I got, tread pattern's the same (I know the 615's different). I dunno if they just had some left over of whatev, but they had em. Thanks for the info. And judging by ur sig...u'd probably know better than me lol.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go +1 and put my now-new-then old 1's on the back when I have to replace the 1's I've got now

on that note, can u run different tire sizes (front / back) in the Stock category? Just wondering...thanks

oooooh. Well, It'll (HOPEFULLY) be a or so b4 I need to get a new set for up front. I'm still an auto x noob so I don't think it'll matter that much my first year and a half or so.

I heard something abt the Azenis' getting greasy after they heat up and needing to spary them down after each run. Any1 have any info / tips on that?

Thanks

Yeah, the 215s get greasy a bit sooner than the 615s, but as a rule, if they feel really hot after a run, spray them all down, esp. the fronts. Get a 1-2 gallon garden sprayer from Home Depot or someplace like that, fill it up at home and then keep it next to the car while you are running. Works wonderfully.

HAHA, I just noticed, 69, lol. Ok, sorry. Thanks for the info tho lol.

Wait til the 2nd, then we'll talk lol. I'm thinkin I'm just going to keep a running tally up there until...well, who knows. Too bad the season's almost over :(. 3 more races to go. (notcool) (notcool)

Hey, it's a very practical #!! :D It can be changed to 66, 99 or 96 without ever having to make more numbers. :) NP, glad you're getting into it and having fun. Oh and let's not discuss cone kills.... :p

I take it cones shake in fear at the site of you :) I saw a guy kill a cone and drag it through the entire course, heh.

if i had a dollar for every car i've seen being jacked up in grid to get cones out from underneath...if you've never killed a cone, you haven't been driving aggressively enough.

I know somebody in this thread that leaves big conemarks on a car that they drive (pissed) (silly)

Haha, yeah. I'd better be getting into it, I just spent close to $500 on rims / tires ;). And now that u put it that way, it is pretty practical.
