Australian 2009 CX-7 Luxury

Hi,

In Australia we have Mazda CX-7 Luxury which comes with a 9 speaker Bose system.

Of all the stupid design flaws....Mazda has not installed an AUX 3.5mm jack on the unit nor a flylead with a 3.5mm plug.

Is there a way with this model of connecting it to an ipod classic 160gb or just by having a plain jane 3.5mm aux input lead?

Our units do not come with nav....its just a bose system that interfaces to the touch screen.

i looked at fm modulators but surely someone has a schematic on this unit we get in oz or perhaps has worked a way around this issue without replacing it with an after market head unit

To be honest i really dont about not being able to connect the ipod via the apple plug or using it via the headunit.....i really just want a 3.5mm stereo plug for me to plug into the headphones socket of any device

Have you looked in the center console? The compartment between the two seats? That is where the ms3/ms6 one is located.

here is a picture.

i have asked local owners if they recall seeing one but they claim they have not

the most annoying thing is that i have telephoned various mazda dealers antionwide to get an averge of answers and some say yes and some say no..........

i have a friend who is an electronics engineer.....he said for me to get a schematic and have a look for a possible way of including one.

Hi, I'm in Canada and my family has several Mazda vehicles. To my knowledge you can get that as a factory option and they put the plug in your armrest. They might not offer you that because in each country there are different options that are not available in another country. The CX-7 in Canada and America although essentially the same, have several different interior/electronic options. They just might not be offering it to you. What I really recommend is purchasing an aftermarket head unit that offers you an I-pod plug, and changing 6 of the speakers and adding a sub. Most aftermarket head units come offer the ipod connection standard but I prefer Alpine personally, and you can wire it so your ipod plugs into the glove box. Good luck hope this helps.

G'day.

I to have the so called "B-version" with the touch screen.

Likewise, the owners book says the "media" button is for attaching an Ipod. I checked with a mate who works in the spare parts department at Gosford Mazda. he was surprised to find NO adapter listed for the B-version (JUN-08++)

I find it hard to imagine Mazda going backwards from the I-pod adaptable A-version & nothing in the B-version. So, I plan to pull the sides of the dash area & get a look into the back of the Stereo unit to see if there is something hiding up at the back.

May take a while until I find the time but it must happen sooner or later.

Update.

Mazda Australia have finally done something in regards to the backwards step on the "B-version" of removing an I-pod adaption.

In a memo dated 22-MAY-09 Mazda Australia announce the inclusion of a new "Blue-tooth" option to suit the "B-version" CX-7 that allows the intergration of an I-pod, I-phone etc into the Bose stereo system..

RRP is AU$415 & a 2-hr time limit is alloted to the service guys when installing. Labour costs will be seperate. Oh, it appears there may be a mic to be installed onto the A-pillar thus allowing a 2-way use of the system if using an Iphone.
