Attention iPod / Mazda enthusiasts

Hey you all iPods users, BMW just released a kit to connect the iPod in the car and control it on the wheel: http://www.apple.com/ipod/bmw/
Write an email at mazdausa.com to ask for a similar product development. That would be making sense as mazda targets primarily at young buyers that are also the bulk of iPod buyers.

Thanks for the support

David

Sounds cool. I wonder how it sounds though. I have an FM transmitter for my iPod and the sound is just as good as a radio. Too bad it's not MP3 quality.

kenwood makes a aux input that plugs into the changer input. i just hooked my ipod through there. the only thing is that i still have to use the ipod to navigate, but it's not that bad. my brother just ordered his mini and i think he's getting that in his car.

For your protege5's OEM head unit?

ugh, some ghettoness i sense here, FM transmitters sound like crap, IMO if you wanna hook up an external 3.5mm jack you need to use RCA's

i have a pioneer deck + RCA IP Bus attachment from there i have the RCA going to a 3.5mm jack and that hooks up to my MD player, i can disconnect the md player and hook anything i want into it, tape, cd, MD, pocket pc, palm, PDA, mp3

Aftermarket AUX imputs are the only way to go

well, what we should be waiting for now is from Alpine who would be releasing soon an interface that works on the newer Ai-net headunits. You can now control your ipod through your headunits and shows everything like sonng title, etc. That would be cool. I think August or September is the release date.

That would be really cool to have for our Mazdas. I would pay good money for a kit like that.

Opps, forgot they didn't have OEM Head units for 2002+ mazda's. But still super cool for those who have aftermarket stereos...

BMW kit works ONLY with the stock headunit. Thus making it a useless peice of sh!t, IMO.

i dont see why they would want to make an iod adapter kit for a car they dont produce anymore. it would be cool though

just Get the ITrip from apple, it takes the music from your ipod and transmits it through the radio waves, theres no way mazda is goind to make that kit now, they stop prodution on the p5. i just bought the Itrip and a lil cup holder and sounds fine. just like a burnt cd.

This has been discussed many times before in other threads. I've used the iTrip and other FM transmitters before and find the sound quality poor at best (try turning up the volume and listen to the distortion - ouch, my ears!) Sure it's convienient, but unacceptable IMO.
