Are you guys Mazda loyalists?

I read in an automotive magazine that Mazda is really good at getting new customers but not good at keeping them. With how fun to drive their entire line-up is, I had to wonder how or why that could be. Dealer service scams, sour deals with the business office, maybe broken warranty promises, maybe reliability issues.

I'm basically new to Mazda as my 5 is the first Mazda I've personally owned. Are you guys repeat customers? Or will you be?

Just curious because I'm going to start shopping for a new set of wheels for myself and the first place I plan to look is right here on this side of the fence.

My 5 is only my second Mazda, had an 808 years ago. I would buy another Mazda. I was a pretty loyal Honda driver (still have two in the driveway) for almost twenty years, but have owned a Nissan back when it was called Datsun. Somehow I've given Toyota a miss, though I have many friends who swear by (and not at) them.

I tend to buy the best car I can afford and that fits my requirements, regardless of brand. However I will never own an American car ever again, unless they have a massive change in their processes.

The dropping of your warranty for mods that have 0 to do with your problem is a big killer of repeat customers.

Hard to say if my dealership is good at keeping me. I don't get to see them that often. Only during scheduled maintenance.

And we are planning on keeping this vehicle. We will not be a repeat customer for sometime.

I've had three Mazdas to date. My first was 02 Tribute Lx V6 which was a pretty good vehicle and never gave us any trouble for the 5 years we owned it and had just over 100 000 kms when we sold it for my wifes used Odyssey.

I've also had an 04 Mazda 6i with the 5 speed and never had any issues as well. It had some personally quirks like the clutch was a bit wonky in cold weather as it would clatter and because the throttle was drive by wire there was a little delay so it took awhile to master. It had a great trunk but the car did little to excite me but now that I am driving an auto Mazda 5 4 speed there is a big difference in my opinion between auto and man tranny.

To date I like the 5 proably the best of the three but the 5 has a few quirks as well but nothing major to make me hate it.

i currently own 4 mazda's. and even spent the time to convert my ford explorer, to a mazda navajo. so thats kinda a 5ht mazda. lol

I've had '04 mazda 6i before and never had any major issued with it. Now I have '07 mazda 5GT and sure enough I will be going back there to get another mazda. I know that not every dealer treats you the same, but I have nothing but good things to say about Avante Mazda(canada)

First Mazda in my family was in 1969, it was the Mazda 1500 (Luce), my grandfather bought it brand new. Then they sold that one and bought in 1971 Mazda 1500 SS (sport model ))... The only period we didnt have one was when my father bought Chyrsler Grand Voyager so we can take road trips... In the last 5 years we have two Mazdas.

Excluding things from when I was a kid (rotary pickup, my uncle's RX-2 (RX-3? I can't recall), this is our first Mazda. I looked at a Millenia just under a decade ago, but it felt way too cheap to pay almost $30k for. I've looked at Proteges and 626s in the past, but never bought.

I like the feel of the Mazdas in the dry, but honestly that feeling is just a product of lower gearing (lower mpg), 'unusual' alignment (poor tire wear), and very stiff shocks. All that also makes for very poor snow and ice driving.

We like our 5 for many reasons, and my wife does really appreciate the "zippiness" of it, but for me it's the combination of size, sliding rear doors, and good mpg for a 6-passenger vehicle.

I buy what meets my needs/purpose for the vehicle in question at the time.

Second Mazda, the first was a 96 Miata. Mazdas have been my only daily drivers I've paid for with my own $$$. There are a couple of Toyotas in the stable.

I had the privilege of driving a Tribute V6 owned by father in law and man did I like the way it drove. i bought a Mazda 5, fell in love with it the first time I saw it. Given the chance, I would like to own a Mazda 3 and RX-8 as well. And i'm not kidding too.....(2thumbs)

Dad had an old b series pick up circa late 80s early 90s + a 94 protege that he converted from auto to 5-speed back in Jamaica..head work, lightly modded etc.
Mom still has her 1989 RX-7 GTU.
I caught the bug from them I guess.
Currently I have the Protege5 & the Miata.
In the market for a CX-7 for the wife & a MS3/6 for myself.

I've owned an '87 626, a 98 and 02 Protege and now I'm on an 08 3.
Am I a loyalist? I don't think so. But I do recognize value and quality.
As soon as the company quits offering that, I'll go elsewhere for my next vehicle.

Same here, although I am moving more in the flying M direction. My family has always been a Ford family, and this is my first Mazda. As for being a repeat customer, that depends. When we start having kids I want to get a 5 for the wife, and I would love to replace my P5 eventually, but I'll only replace it with something in manual. I hope Mazda starts offering manuals in more trim levels again, as I would not consider a vehicle like the 6 unless it had a stick for the v6. The warranty stuff sucks, but I can't afford to buy new anyway, so for now it's a non-issue. I would love to pick up a used, low mileage MS6 right now!

Repeat customer (can you tell? (lol2)). I love the car design and mechanically but one of the critical things that made me get a 2nd one was also the service and responsiveness.

From the recall $500 inconvenience check to the service and attention I get from my current dealer, it completed the picture. I no longer have time to work on my cars, so relying on a good workshop is vital for my needs.

My p5 was my first mazda, and i was hooked!

I just love driving them. I love the way they drive. Sure, they arent perfect, and have their issues, but they look great (my p5 and 5 do) and drive like a car should.

My dealership is awesome too! They have been nothing but great. They hand you the keys and dont go along. They say, take your time. The last time i got the oil changed and something checked out, they let me drive a brand new 40th anniversary RX8... just for fun and all by myself!

I just look at other cars, inside and out, and dont seem to like them.

I am with you here. My next car needs to be a manual! I was thinking about getting the next MS3 when my p5 goes, but now I am hoping to wait until the Mazda 2 gets here!

The 5 is my 3rd Mazda. I had an MX-6 LS (how I still miss that car) back in the '90s and picked up a Euro spec 323F when I was stationed in Italy. Now that the kids are bigger I need more room and the 5 is perfect.
