Apple CarPlay with Waze question

Hello
I just purchased a 2018 Mazda Cx5 Sport. I am trying to integrate Apple CarPlay with the car’s communication system. Using a Bluetooth connection I have set it up so that I can play music from my IPhone and hear Waze directions. But does anyone know if it is possible to see the Waze maps/routes on the car’s screen? Any guidance on how to do this would be most appreciated.

2018 models did not come from Mazda with CarPlay, they just had Bluetooth connectivity. There’s a (wired) CarPlay upgrade available (firmware and hardware) from Mazda. There are probably YouTube videos showing how to install it yourself, or you can have a dealer do it. Not sure what the parts cost or installation cost is by now. i’m guessing there’s probably aftermarket kits too if you want to go that route.
