apperance or performance?

Seriously, intake cam and DG hood with CAI and thats gonna do me, till i get a set of rims & tires for off season (it gets nasty for about 3 weeks in VA) and thats it.

Although I've always had completely stock cars, if I were to mod mine, it would definitely be all-go. I like the mostly-clean lines of factory cars. (maybe it's the old age starting to creep up in me).

although i don't have anything against those for "looks"...i don't believe in "all show no go"...so it's definitely performance first...plus owning a sleeper is a great thing

I believe both are a function of the other...if that makes any sense...in other words...appearance that improves performance and performance the improves appearance.

Hmmm not sure if I completely get what you are saying Antoine...but for me looks wise there is very little I'd change about my car...it gets me so many compliments and pretty much universally all of them are good.

If I were going to change something looks wise, it'd be the rims...but then it would be just as much as about performance as i'd be sure to buy a much lighter rim which would lighten the load a little. As well, I'd like to beef up the sound system a little, altho other than a different sub in the trunk it wouldn't really change the overall looks that much.

Other than that, I'd rather go with performance. When you think about it, our car can actually be a sleeper. If people are knowledgable about vehicles they should know at least approximately the stock performance of our car. Just imagine the surprise they get when they see the performance of a chdesign, spoolinmp3 or (soon to be still I think) ben with their performance minded vehicles!

Believe it or not, I value both the same but if I were to really pick between the 2 it would be all go. Its just thaT THE DAMN MP3 looks so sweet from factory....not much I would change in terms of looks besides wheels, suspension and seats. My main thing is that if it loogs good it better have some purpose to it like, Racing seats cuz they give you better support ect. Thats why I went F/I with the MP3 there is not much to improve with appearance but hella lot in acceleration.

On the other hand If I bought a WRX I would work on looks before performance...reason being the car is already quick but the looks need some working on.

It all depends onthe car, but like bigblue said it better have some function too it.

i dont race or speed, so performance is not as big as looks. the mp3 itself is a great performing car, and great with looks, but cf hood/sideskirts/front lip, and uhm.....the wingswest body kit and woah! stock performance for the mp3 is enough for me, though i wouldnt mind having a turbo and a fmic.....yep i sure wouldnt mind.

Car looks too good stock. Not much I'd ever want to change, but I do like the WW lower body kit. (sides, rear, and front) Factory wing is fine, anything bigger is gaudy. (JMO) I dream of a turbo, but that's after the warranty is out. For now, I just play on the track when I can. Give me go, the show comes stock.

Aye. Derrick got me pegged on preferring performance. My car looks great stock, and I'll do very few mods to it over time for the SHOW.

So far, for show...
-tint
-underbody neons
-painted cals

Future plans for show...
-New Rims (although it is a show AND go mod assuming I get lighter rims)
-Maybe a grill mod or something

That's about all I intend to do to make it prettier. I LOVE the pretty, but there's not much more I can do to beautify this car.

But SPEED is a diff story. I plan on dropping a ton of $ into this badboy for performance. I want my bite to be twice as bad as my bark, baby!

I hear ya man. I was considering going with the WRX. While I wouldn't do SHOW before i did GO, I'd do them both simultaneously. And I'd do a lot more SHOW mods than I would with my mp3. I'd have to make it pretty...

I prefer the stealth method. Let the cops eyes be drawn to the flashy ones and I'll slip by looking like an accountant that couldn't afford a Civic. Although I often upgrade the audio when necessary.
