Apex-i S-AFC

I have a couple of questions on the s-afc. I did a search but couldn't find the answers to what I'd like to know. I'm going NA with mine and I understand the open loop and closed management maps. What I'd like to know is if there would be any benefit to using the afc in place of a stand-alone with going NA. I'm figuring since I'm not going turbo or N2O then the fuel dump at wot would be ok, but adjustments up until wot would help once I have the cam's installed and finish out my exhaust system. BTW I did read on a previous post about the MAF on our cars and the miata's. Ours are only similar to the 2gen mx-5, the 1 gen's are closer to the 2nd gen rx-7's it's just reads to a lower limit than the rx-7, however it does read the same voltage output. Back when I had my first miata a trick a lot of people used with intakes was to swap the rx-7's into the miata. Worked real well too, we got the benefit of the intake and the ECU could realize the increase in air coming in.

Unfortunately, since it is still debateable as to whether the S-AFC will work, the only way to find out is to do it.

No one that I know of as of yet, has hooked up the S-AFC and got it working.

If you're staying N/A and using factory cams (J-spec is still factory), all you really need is some more agressive ingnition timing. The factory fuel maps are on the rich side, and would probably be just fine with a header and hi flow exhaust.

Check out the post about the AEM plug and play. I think that's the unit to have. I remember their web site having a good write up on the unit and a software demo too.

I remember someone a while back, I think it was spoolin actually, posted an install and pinouts for the AFC connections. I think it should work, at least in open loop mode anyways. As to the AEM unit I looked at that, actually downloaded the demo a week or so ago. Thats more involved than what I'd like to do. If I was going turbo or supercharing then, yeah that would be the ticket. It's just a lot more than what I need for the setup I'm trying to run. I'll have to admit though that the flexablity of that program is awsome. I've got an OBDII class coming up the end of june and I'm gonna try to get into an engine management software class at some point so I can learn to take advatange of that type of program. Hopefully it'll all work out.
