Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone reupholstered their own seats or got them done? I've been thinking about redoing them and am wondering how complicated it really is since this would be my first attempt. I have an extra pair of stock seats and I'm good at sewing and such so why not at least try? Lol. But any tips, pics, or really just any input appreciated. Thanks!

i would like to do that but, dont really have the tools (sewing machine). if you do go through with it id like to see it. BTW i recognize your signature photo from cardomain, lol

I have the same interest. I want to go with black leather and grey small holed lether centers with all orange stitching.

Also is that at the pagoda in reading? I live very close.

as hank hill would say, "upholstery is one of the five original industrial arts".

ive never seen it done. you can get new covers, but its a b**** to install.

if you decided to get it done by a pro, you might as well get some sparcos. lol

there's a pretty good place near by where i live that will completely re upholster the whole inside for around 1000. i was wondering if anyone has put rx8 red and black seats (front and rear) in their protege

There are a few options your can do. I haven't done any in my msp but have done some in my old mr2 i used to own. You can either order leather seat kits through like katzkin which make nice covers and aren't very difficult to install just time consuming for someone who hasn't removed seat covers before. If you want to re-upholster yourself however, first and foremost you need the correct type of sewing machine such as industrial strength so you can actually sew the material you will be wanting. Also gonna need some hog ring plyers, basic hand tools, and some hog rings. You might get lucky and be able to trace the paterns of the old material if not worn by cutting the connecting thread of each piece or you will have to make a design yourself. My best recommendation is if you feel confident go for it. Nothing like a learing experience. But might want to go to some upholstery shops and so if they will give you some free waste material to practice on before you buy the good stuff and go all out. If you have any more question PM since i know how to do this

I'm actually wondering the best way to repair a scratch I made on that vinyl part on my drivers seat; it's SUCH an eyesore! I was careless while I was leaning under my dash fiddling with my stereo. Any ideas?
