Anyone Looking For A Unichip For Their MS3? Mustang Dyno'd...See Numbers...

http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3917715#post3917715

it's really cool they'd fly down a tech from portland oregon to sf california

UNICHIP wants to send down a tech for MEET93...this would be part of their sponsorship...

this is what jack said, "we have PnP kits for the Speed6, the Speed Protg, and the Speed Miata but we're also available to do the Spyderloom install and tune on the Speed3.
If we're going to do something like that, we'd need deposits and
we'd probably be able to do 5 custom tunes per day... do you think
there would be an interest?"

Trevor,

I’m the sales director here at Unichip. Jack asked me to see if their may be some interest in us coming down for the day of the Meet93 event and custom tuning cars in your area? They don’t all need to be MS3 any Mazda speed would be fine. We need a minimum of 5 hard wires to make the trip. If we get more we can stay for a second day. The cost of this tune will be $599.00. If a car shows up that needs a lot of tuning (if it has motor work, bigger turbos etc.) we will have to charge an additional $200.00 and this will cut into our tuning time. It could take half a day to tune the car. We would like to have people signed up with a deposit of $200.00 before the 14th of July. We normally have our customer pay in full up front. We are going to trying a new process on your group.

Let me know what you think and we can move forward.

theres been about a half dozen to a dozen installs on the product done to local forum members in portland oregon and seattle washington...everyone that has gotten it is loving it...the guys that are running completely stock are saying maybe that's the only mod i need...

Certainly those numbers look nice and the smoothed curves are attractive. If I was not on the east coast, I would like to stop by and see what these guys are up to with tuning. Any more details on chips. Reflashable, I would assume so. A limit on reflash. Tuning upgrades and some track time numbers? Road course or 1/4.

the guys that are running it are over at the ************...one of the guys is IRISH_AYES...look for a unichip thread...there's 3 of them...

its a chip...
If by "chip" you mean a 1"x3"x6" brick of metal chock full of circuitry and with a pigtail of about 30 wires coming out then yes.

The unichip is a piggyback controller but it works in offsets and it works crappily.

They came and went on Subarus 5 years ago with all the major companies trying them (Cobb, then TurboXS, then Vishnu and finally just some minor holdouts that still sell them like Xceleration). Don't be confused though - they sucked back then and they still suck.

The best engine management is the factory one. You just need to reprogram it. That's what an AP does.

who has decoded the stock ecu? I have not heard anything about how to manipulate the stock system. I realize it is still early and I could talk to Cobb and CP-E`but nobody has reported the actual tuning pitfalls or successes. Just references. Is anyone controlling their car and having it working out as hoped, or is it still a battlefield. I mean total control, as in I apply 5 volts to throttle plate and I see 5 volts at throttle plate!

Cobb has full control of the ecu. They can do whatever they want. They can open up throttle 100% or whatever else you may have in mind.
They dont open throttle 100% because it doesnt make extra power, the turbo, cams, headflow, manifold design isnt efficient enough.
