Another alignment question

I put my new wheels on my MS3 and notice the car pull slighty to the left now.

Does a wider rim with lower offset than stock affect the alignment of the car and cause it to pull to the left? If yes, why?

The shop where I got my rims told me to do a alignment but I just don't understand why changing to wider rims affect the alignment.

after adding aftermarket rims you usually have to re-align the wheels - esp after you've gone from stock. wider tire = wider footprint. the alignment might not be off by a lot, but its probably enough to mess your steering.

btw - changing springs/struts requires an alignment to be done because the suspension is directly affected.
