Alignment question

Anyone have any issues where the steering wheel starts trembling after 60mph? I did a search in the forums to see if I could find something on this issue but found nothing. A friend of mine told me there are little weights inside the rim and that if one of them is missing it could be causing the trembling. I also read (on this site) that not all mechanics have the proper hardware to do an alignment on 3's. (Or did I misunderstand?)

Any info is much appreciated!
 
Does your car pull to either side when your hand is off the wheel?

As you drive, your tires will slowly go out of balance. take it to a tire shop and have them check them. If you are in the snow belt, ice and impacted snow can also make a difference.

live in florida. not from this hell hole. I realize that as I drive the car's tires will go out of balance, but I have had this problem before and after balancing/aligning/rotating my tires. There must be more to it then just a simple balance.
 
check your tie rods (inner and outer) for play and your ball joints. also if you have managed an out of round or tread 'walking' on your tires that could also be it and cannot be corrected for by balancing. If it is in the bearings you might start to get a noise by now..grinding noise that changes with speed.

Yes, the tierods! Why was I thinking bearings? Shuddering steering wheel under braking maybe?

And you can make them louder or quieter by steering into or away from the bad bearing.
 
Are you always doing 60 on the same stretch of road (shady) yea I know I know but sometimes the most simple things are the ones we tend to forget.....could be the road conditions and/or uneven wear on the tires

really sounds like a tire balance issue... some shops will do a tire balance with the tire on the car... may want to see if you can find a place that does this - they may be able to diagnose the problem better
 
i smashed into a curb the suck but shop said i blew out the struts and lined everything back up, but the camber was still knocked out positively. i had told them about this also. when i got the car back, i turned the strut mount, and it helped alot. im still gonna try a new control arm soon.

before the accident, i also hear rattles when i go over bumps. could this be caused by bad wheel bearings?

and what exactly is the tie rod, the bolt that bolts to the steering knuckle, or the thing at the end of the steering arm that pulls the knuckle.
