Air horns installed!

Last Saturday finally installed my "Wolo Xtreme Air horns" (the only thing "extreme" about the Xtreme series is the color, otherwise same thing as their normal two-tone horns).

Took a bunch of crappy pictures with my cell phone camera. I attached four of them, there's more on that link though.

Sounds great! Watched Boiler Room the following night and there was a Ferrari that honked and I swear it sounded much like these horns.

The delay is negligible--yes, the horns are not instant, but the compressor starts spooling up instantly and full blast power is reached within quarter second or less.

I decided to toss the stock horn, as to not "ruin the sound" of these horns.

The pictures show:

- horns with a 1" L-bracket attached to them, bent slightly (as to allow the bracket to lay flat on the bumper and have the horns slighlty pointed away from the radiator).
- horns JB Welded (JB Weld Kwik actually) to the bumper
- wiring hookup (I hope that relay doesn't fail in that location!)
- the whole shebang before the grill is back on

looks good! i replaced mine with a fiamm freeway blaster. it's definitely louder, but it could be even more loud if i didn't mount it directly behind the bumper (it's to wide to mount in the stock location so i had to mount it lower). all i wanted was to get rid of the sissy ass stock one.

Three cheers for non-stock horns!!

Looks awesome, can't wait to hear it at the next nepoc event

My electric air horn just came in.. it plays 32 different songs :) I just hope it doesn't sound like crap.

You crazy Russian! You're gonna scare all the little old ladies on the pike with those things! I can't wait to hear 'em!

yeah, air horns rock... I have the Fiamm air horn... its bad ass... deffinately gives the stock alarm more punch

I got a similar setup, god dam loud as hell too. Try pressing the panic button to see what I mean.

Yeah, it's a pretty tight fit up higher there. I probably could finangle it at a nearly-flat angle (angled down just some), but ahh, this is good enough.

Looking forward to honking my horn for whoever so desires :)

Haven't had a chance to use it in a real situation yet.

Air horn question. HOw much are typical air horns, and how much is installation (i'm really lazy when it comes to installing my stuff...esp when a installation shop is about 10 minutes from my house that is rated in the top 10 the US.)

My air horns were $30 from Consumer Auto Parts. I bet you could find them cheaper. I also spent some money on:
- 20A fuse and fuse holder
- 12ga power and ground cables
- quick disconnect female connectors
- other misc connectors

No idea how much installatoin will cost. Ask the shop.

my gf just bought me the air horns, but the directions suck. can anyone help? i have the relay thing, too, but i have no clue what the directions are trying to tell me.

frustrated...

Google for Miata Wolo Air Horns installation. There are two separate pages that I found which detail how to do the install in a Miata. The most useful thing is the electric hookup portion. They tell you which wires go to which connectors on the relay.

I would write-up a How-To, but I really don't have the time right now.

THANKS! i'll be doing this soon. i was just confused about wiring schematics. thanks again. i'll look into it!

I have the FIAAM's, but I want train horns. (evil) This big F350 truck had them on at one of our car meets. Scared the s*** outta folks! LOL!
