Acura to get V8 Power

One of the biggest complaints Acura has had to suffer in the luxury market is the lack of a V8. Sure, V6 engines are more fuel efficient and can be tuned to deliver oodles of power, but nothing compares to the effortless grunt of a V8 engine. Plus, with Mercedes and BMW offering increasingly higher-output V8 engines on their models, it was time to move up to be taken seriously in the luxury market. Thats why Honda will be introducing V8 engines in vehicles for its luxury brand Acura, but not for Honda itself. In an interview with Automotive News, Hirohide Ikeno, president of Honda R&D Americas confirmed that V8 power is our direction and that he would be personally pushing for the move.
Its expected the top-of-the-line Acura RL (pictured above) will be one of the first vehicles to get the V8 when its introduced. Honda may also sell V8 engines in its own brand cars outside the US.

The ridgeline NEEDS a V8.

But as for the RL, it would be sweet with a V8.

Heck it would be awesome in that TL. Shame about that FWD though.

That's unfortunate.. That gargantuan truck could use a few extra HP.

Honda could up the ratings on the 3.5L in the Ridgeline and Pilot.

When i saw the title it just screamed NSX test bed engine.

I just read about the NSX getting a V8 next. I just have to remember where I read that.

Guys you realize how dangerous all this V8 talk is for Honda owners? I mean these people have no concept of the power of torque. I don't know if they will be able to handle this. I must warn all my Honda owning friends.

If it swaps as easily as every other honda engine, I can imagine you'd see a few 1-off v8 ridgelines courtesy of HASport

I seriously doubt HASport will do a engine swap kit because its not for a Civic or Integra/RSX.

true, but i'm sure someone will want to have that v8 in his civic/crx/rsx/prelude/fill in the blank.

or if someone really wants to pay the steep price of admission he/she could contract hasport to do a custom kit
