Father - "Our new H2, I kept the Benz"
Bob- "Ohh I see... What did she hit?"
Father- "One of those Japanese things.. I think it was a Protege?.. Yeah well anyway the poor bastards funeral is next week."

I've never said that women are worse drivers than men, it's just that women think different than men. You girls should be able to attest to this... Women usually cannot let go of things and concentrate on whatever they have at hand. Instead they usually are hurtling down the road in their Ford "expansion" or whatever and their thinking about cooking dinner, or a meeting, or what they have to do this weekend, or whatever.

I'm married, I know how this works, my wife is a phenomenal driver when she actually concentrates on her driving. Women have the potential to be as good or better drivers than men. They have a lower center of gravity (important if you want to ride motorcycles), and they typically have better fine motor skills than men, both of which would contribute to piloting a vehicle. Men just have a harder time spliting their concentration (proven fact) which makes them better drivers. They don't waste time thinking about the rest of the day while they drive because they're driving.

Great post! I was hoping there would be some sort of intellegent replies..

Yes, a womans ability to concentrate on multiple things has its goods and bads. (I believe the way it works is men typically think with the right side of their brain while women utilize both sides at the same time more often). While this means we are generally more capable to do multiple activities while driving (make up, phones, etc), it can also get out of hand when the list of current thoughts gets to large to dedicate enough 'brain power' to driving. Because we are almost always multi-tasking, it's hard to notice when a particular activity isn't getting enough attension.

I find it interesting that some people imply women are too stupid to drive cars, when in actual fact our 'problems' with driving are generally that we're thinking too much.. I expect this to be a growing problem as women are holding more and more high stress careers as well as trying to manage a home..

Alright Fraay...this thread is ******* funny and I want to be a part of it...

You like stastistics it seems...Insurance statistics put the mighty dollar above anything else...Men cause more money to insurance companies than females...Mostly due to the larger standard deviation from the normal fender bender...So for example in PA 2 years ago...There were not as many men at fault in accidents as women...BUT there were a few more men that caused at fault accidents in which the car was totaled...The statisticial evidence also concluded that more than half of the female accidents were caused by careless driving in an urban setting, also in which at least one other vehicle was involved...while male accidents were usually caused by too fast vehicle operation in adverse conditions, in which his car was the only property damage...Also this stastic said that a majority of these male related accidents were related with alcohol consumption..while less than a majority of the female accidents were...

Now in 2002, females in Pennsylvania cost insurance companies more money than men...The amount of female at fault accidents was higher than of men overall...and 2003 is on route to reflect the same...Currently 16 year female insurance rates in most areas (especially in urban areas) is higher than that of a 16 year old male...this pertains to PA only, I don't know of other areas being the same...

Also, a survey was done by Penndot on state trooper accident reports...The survey pertained to excuses used by the at fault driver...It was not implemented for gender issues, but for both overall...Over 90% of female accident excuses pertained to some other personal issue that clouded her judgement...The list included excuses such as "my boyfriend just broke up with me", and "I had a rough day at work" and others...Men usually responded with not fully admitting he was at fault, or had no excuse at all...Pride seems to be the issue with men...

Stastically men are more "interested" in the performance of his vehicle than women...More men than women think of their own vehicle as personal property, and on average take better care and drive safer than women...They are also more interested in the behavior of the car as well...They tend to learn about what makes different aspects of the car function more readily than females...And tend to in turn learn a better understanding of the physics involved with operating a vehicle...

Careless or wreckless driving citations issued to women have more than doubled in the last few years...While the same citations have sloped south a bit for men...Men recieve more speeding tickets than women...but the report also stated that more speeding "warnings" have been issued to females...which brought the total speeding related "pull-overs" to more for females than males (which means that more women were pull over for speeding than men...but got away with it)...

In PA more men than women currently have points on his/her liscense...I being one of them...But I argue that cops think with their cocks and don't give hot chicks tickets;)

this is all stastistics...And like the women on this board, there are definately potential outliers that are far different than that of the stastics itself...

it is ignorant to refer to all women or all men as better or worse drivers...A friend of mine's brother just flew off a turn at 95mph in the rain, and for some reason didn't understand why it happened..."it's a Chevy Cavalier?"..."It was built for handling turns like that!"...so obviously men make dumbass mistakes too...

but since you are referring to stastitics...Females on average create more accidents and spend more insurance dollars in Pennsylvania then men...Females on average create accidents in which other vehicles or people were damaged/injured...Males on average fly the **** off roads and damage his car/fences/occupents of his car...

Personally I try to stay unbiased on this matter...My girlfriend overall is a safer driver than me...I have a better understanding of a certain vehicles limits than she does...but she never approaches these said limits...

Also however...I personally have witnessed more women than men doing dumbass things...Turning into one way streets and hitting a stopped car head on...Doing her makeup at over 80mph and vearing into the median to miss a slower moving truck (in which I never saw illuminated brake lights until she was well into the grass)...Parallel parking and smacking the parking meeter, then pulling forward and rear ending the parked car in front of her...

I have seen men do dumbass things too...Last week I saw a dude that was obviously drunk at an intersection with a cop (lights spinning) behind him...He proceeded to shift the car into reverse for some reason and reverse into the police car...The policemen then walked up to the car and opened the driver door, in which the man fell out of the car onto the policemen's boots...

Both genders do stupid ******* s***...this is not gender discrimination...You females can bark the same thing back if you want...You do not need to take it so personally...this board has a majority of men, so you will get hassled by some...go make a car board full of women and your views will be more in your favor most likely...

^man the pic wiht the beamer and the gas nozzle thingy is pretty funny. Guess she was in a rush or something. How can that happen?:D :D

Eh, the thing has a safety latch that automatically detaches to prevent you from driving away with the whole fuel pump.... ask me how I know

ok I will bite...How do you know? You didn't do it did you?...

Also mind you not all pumps have those...but in most cases the hose rips somewhere anyway before it pulls the pump out...

Yeah, I was a dumbass, I left the thing still in and started to drive off. I don't know how I did that. I think I was daydreaming about this girl or something. I now have the habit to be 100% sure the cap is there and the door is closed. LOL!

lol. damn that would be funny to see you driven away with gas pump still attached. lol.

I guess that explains y i see so many cars driving around wiht their gas tank covers open. Too many daydreamers:D

Insurance companies have their statistics but they are like most statistics, incomplete. It is true that young male drivers cause the most damaging accidents...but what about all those fender-benders and rear-enders that go unreported?

I myself have not reported 2 accidents caused by women (only because no honda civic or compact car could put a scratch in the bumper of my 90 Grand Marquis...and if they did, I didn't give a s*** about the car anyway).

EVERY parking lot ding on my car was caused by a woman. I can account for all three. I have witnessed countless women hit cars in parking lots and drive away, but no men. I leave notes on the victim's car with the license plate of the person who hit them and my phone number....I have never been called back though.

Report every accident and someday the truth will come out that there are just as many bad female drivers as there are bad male drivers.

This is pretty much the point I was trying to make in my earlier post. These small fender benders usually get taken care of outside of insurance or don't get reported. This causes the insurance companies to have skewed statistics.

It's not fair to say that women do all the dinging, and everyone always lets them off the hook.. that's your experience.. and your perceptions... you don't and can't have enough data to prove that US, or north america or world wide, women have unreported accidents more than men.. because they're not reported.. so we're stil forced to stick with the solid evidence. And I don't think its a reasonable arguement to say, my experience are different then the statistics so they must be wrong.

But even if it IS true.. parking lot $100 damage accidents shouldn't be a huge consideration.. they are annoying yes.. dangerous.. no.. lets be a tad more concerned with the impared driving, accidents at twice the speed limit.. running stop signs/lights.. people getting injured or worse, killed in these situations..

"It doesn't matter that men are twice as likely to die in car accidents, my car got dinged in a parking lot by a woman!".... sheesh.. that's why women are worse drivers? because your paint gets scratched?? Men are better drivers because they total their cars more and kill people more often.. aaalllriighty

Can someone prove otherwise and list the number of women you know who are good parkers (that includes parallel parking). I can list several men, most of whom go the extra distance and back their cars in when necessary, but not a single woman I know can park worth s***.

It is solid evidence that cops issue more warnings to women than men. I'm sure the same logic can be applied to fender benders. Women can use their 'charm' to get themselves out of things...if men tried the same thing they would come off as assholes.

A girl totaled my grand marquis in a parking lot fender bender...$3500 damange. No one died but that kind of carelessness follows drivers onto the road. And they are not just annoying, they are ******* annoying. How many 1+ year old cars can you point out in a parking lot that do not have at least one dent, scuff, or scrape on them?

lets be a tad more concerned with the impared driving, accidents at twice the speed limit.. running stop signs/lights.. people getting injured or worse, killed in these situations..

I totally agree. Drunk drivers should rot in hell and should not be allowed to own (nevermind drive) any automobile/motorcycle/moped/boat ever again once they are convicted. We should have video cameras to catch and ticket stop-sign runners, speeders, and other traffic-law-violators...

... but even if someone is a perfect driver, obeys every law, and keeps their car sqeaky clean, they still fall victim to the bad parkers and the careless drivers who may not cause fatalities...but instead make everyone else's lives miserable when their pride and joy gets its first dent, scrape, or scuff.

Chuyler...I agree with everything you said...and I share the same experiences...My girlfriend can't parallel park at all, and the best part is she admits it and doesn't do it...

but to women's defense...More men get DUI's than women...That is the biggest problem of anything...And with the current strictness of DUI enforcement, I don't think any fuckhead cop would let a chick get away with driving drunk no matter how big her tits are...Basically what I mean is that I don't think many women or men get away with DUI "warnings"...

If I had it my way...one DUI would land you on litter picking up detail for 1 year, no liscense for 10, and whatever car you currently have title to immediately auctioned off...in which not another can be purchased until your liscense is reissued...

I don't understand how someone can even fathom driving drunk...When I drink I first hide my keys...while I am still fairly sober I know I don't want to drive and that I won't...after I am loaded I can't even find the ******* keys anyway, regardless of if I think I can handle a vehicle...

most of the stats for insurance that were used to decide prices were from the 50's when there were very few women drivers on the road, insurance prices for men have been higher since the dawn of time, why would they change it now? when there are still more Male drivers than female

IMO I think it's wrong to seperate men and women on driving skills. People are people. Everyone makes mistakes, wether you're a man or woman. I think it's wrong that I have higher insurance costs just because I'm a man.
