A SLIGHT buzzing sound...

So I installed my new TWM short shifter last night and KartBoy Bushings, I noticed that I have a little BUZZing noise at higher RPM's in both deceleration and acceleration. When I'm lightly on the accellorator it's all good, but once I get on it there's a light buzz. Most of it is on the decelleration.

The sound is more of the sound of a washer vibrating against a piece of metal. It's really weard but completely annoying. I don't have a heat shield on so I know it's not that. My best guess was the new bushings but I rechecked the bolt and it's all tight.

ANY IDEAS?

Chris

It is probably your shifter vibrating on the heat shield or if you used the TWM spaces make sure its tighted down all the way. Also The Tighter shifter may vibrate the stock boot and cause a buzz.

it's the bushings. i've got the same noise, too. since they're stiffer, they transmit more noise into the car.

Exactly, It's not the heat shield so that's cancelled out and I agree with Mountjonas because that would make sense. Has anyone found a resolution to that freakin' noise with the KARTBOY Bushings? It's so annoying!!!

i don't think it's the heat shield

The KB Bushings are tighter so they are just gonna buzz. I'm putting on a different shift boot made of leather that is smaller then stock. The stock boot seems to amplify the buzz. I took the boot off and really didnt notice it. Maybe try stuffing some Poly Fill in the center consoul to dampin the sound.

it annoyed the snot out of me for the first few days you'll get used to it. my mazdaspeed axleback helps muffle the noise.

it sucks 99% of performance upgrades have an annoying side effect... i guess that's why they're not included in factory options.

in all honesty, it wasn't that annoying, for me at least. the thing that bugged me the most was that i first noticed it on a road trip and didn't have internet access for a few days so i couldn't investigate what it really was. now it's just another noise i block out. it's all give and take with modding.

I have the B&M short shifter and the kartboy bushings....but then again I do NOT have a stock shift knob but a custom one I had made...I do still have the stick shift boot.....I have NEVER noticed a buzzz.....ever.....and even if I did, there is a totally NO COST fix for it...and you already have it IN your car...its located on the dash....its labled VOLUME!

CRANK THAT PUPPY UP!! (stash) no more buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sir Nuke, You are so right. Reach up to the dash and give that knob a right hand twist and the buzz goes away.

Haha, sometimes when I think something might not be going right with my car, I drive around with the radio off. My car makes all kinds of crazy noises, and pretty soon I'm going insane. It's best to just keep the stereo cranked up as usual. ;)
