I saw this last night lol I think I am going to be putting mid grade from now on on my 2024 I was told that Shell gas is the best.Ran across this in my feed. I don't see a lot of Mazdas in these videos.
I think you may have understood that the wrong way round. LOWER octane fuels are subject to detonation (knock) and THAT can burn holes in pistons, etc.I had a mechanic tell me that higher octane fuels can burn holes in your pistons, plus a whole other myriad of problems.
He said what he said.Octane is literally just resistance to detonation. How in the world could it burn your pistons, and how would performance cars avoid that?![]()

Here it is mostly Shell and Philips 66, with a smattering of smaller ones.
The ones that are not on the list are Casey's and Sam's Club.
I am also in Canada and I have been using Shell mostly sometimes EssoOver here (Canada), I stick to Shell, and sometimes Co-Op or Costco. I know Domo and 7-11 gas isn't Top Tier certified, so I avoid fueling at those stations when possible. I was surprised to learn that Petro Canada is not Top Tier certified, while Tempo fuel is.
