A/C temperature adjustment?

Just purchased a 2012 cx-9.

The A/C temp is knob is set to 60 and blow cold air - Check. However I move the dial to 65 and now warm air, move to 70 even warmer air (feels like a heater now), move to 78 and its like a furnace.

In my Infiniti G35, in the summer heat I have the A/C set to 70 and its plenty cold. In the CX-9, its warm air. Is there a way to adjust this? 70 degrees is still suppose to be cool air, not warm.

Anyone else having this issue?

Are you saying that when you set it to cold temperature, it blows cold air.
Then you set it to a bit warmer, it blows the air a bit warmer
and then you set it a bit warmer, to something like 70, it gets warmer
and then when you set it to 78, it get's really hot?

Is that what your saying? OMG....Your CX-9 thermometer gauge must actually be working! Holy crap, those Mazda Zoom Zoom dudes actually know what they are doing.

C'mon dude. Who says 70F is supposed to be cool air???? What if it's 32F outside like it is here. Did you want to set your CX-9 to 70 to cool the cabin down?

Perhaps your Infinity doesn't know hot from cold........ Just sayin'

I have this SAME problem, and hav been tying to get the dealer to fix it.

2 year old 2014 GT. Noticed it after a few months driving.

Same problem. It can be 40F outside. Selector on 60, blows cold air. 61, it immediately jumps up about 10 degrees. 70 blows hot air. 80 is almost unbearable.

I drive 3 hours one way. There is no way to control it when it malfunctions. I have to shut it off or open a window.

Dealer changed the dash controller and an actuator. They have it again (5th time now) and they could not replicate it today. Told them to keep it until they fix it.

As it occasionally works as it should, I know it's not right.

And regarding the comment about the temp sensor working, sorry... That's not the case.

I feel your pain!

Did you get any resolution? I'm about done with my dealer.

I'm having this exact problem and it is extremely frustrating. And as it occasionally works as it should, I know it is wrong.

70F is 70F is 70F.

When you set the temp to 65 when it is 20 outside, and after an hour you need to strip down to a tee shirt because it is so hot, there is a problem.

It seems to be a very rare occurrence that Mazda has little data on. I too am hoping someone can shed some light on this gremlin

Now that you all mention it, I am having a similar situation with my 2015 GT. It sure seems hotter than normal for lower temp settings. In south Texas we had one of our annual cold mornings (40F). I had to set the temp below 70F for my 45 minutes commute to feel comfortable. Has anyone put a thermometer in the cabin to compare to the dash setting/reading?
