i hear of alot of people investing in exhaust systems, and c/a intakes, etc. i was wondering if the minimal boost in hp is actually worth it if u dont go the extra mile to get a turbo. and if those upgrades actually make any kind of significant performance differences?

uhh...yeah, they do

We've all been hypnotized & must buy parts...must mod more...must buy parts...must mod more...must buy parts...

"Is it worth it?" is more of an opinion than a fact. For me, some of my mods have definately been worth it (short shifter, rear sway bar). But then I also have plenty of mods that I wouldn't do again (CF hood, $1200 suspension). Each one of my performance mods did make a difference. The $$$ to HP ratio is a tough question to answer. Yeah, you could buy a turbo, but that increases your chance of blowing up your motor if you don't do it right. With most of the bolt on mods (intake, header, exhaust), the likelihood of blowing something up is low.

Bottom line is, is it worth it to you.

Plug wires are not a worthwhile mod IMO. high end spark plugs are baloney also. If you have old worn out, fouled up plugs, then replacing them would do you some good, but I don't think any fancy plugs will give you any gains over a 2$ copper plug. Exhausts and headers are certainly good for real HP, probably the most you will get from a single mod. Air intakes might give a couple hp, but don't expect anything spectacular.

Agreed. Weigh your options and your budgets. Remember to add 1k to a turbo kit's price by the time it's installed and tuned. Decreased reliability and need for premium gas can also be negative factors. But it's a hell of a performance gain hehe.

Boltons will net you a decent gain as well. I've had friends in n/a modded p5's think that there's a v6 under the hood with bolton mods 8-)

Yea, it depends on what you feel about the mods, and what you want to do on the car. I always looked forward to get this mod or that mod, but after I got them, I always felt disappointed.... I don't know why, may be I expected too much. Even though I feel disappointed about the improvement, but I still don't feel regret what I did on it because I'm making my 5 better:)

It's like when you ask for a new toy for christmas. You get it, play with it for a day, and then it goes into the closet. We're a society driven on wants, and we always want moar!
