So i was told by adding a 94 ZR1 Oil filter on our cars will let us add up to a 1/2 quart more oil and increase our oil pressure? I dont know what positive effects that gives our cars. But is this true? Sorry if this is already posted, couldnt find anything on it.

Thanks in advance.. and sorry if this is false or a stupid question

The only way a filter can increase oil pressure is if it restricts oil flow less than the filter you're using as a baseline. Better flow is usually a result of worse filtering, although I can't imagine using a sub-par filter on a ZR-1. Do you have the micron specs (how small the debris is that it will catch) on the filter you're considering? If it doesn't filter as well as your current filter, you're better off using what you're using now. More oil capacity is a good thing, but not at the expense of filtering ability.

The filter for the 626 V6 will fit any 2.0 FS, that's what I run. It is slightly larger, therefore having more capacity. I doubt the ZR-1 filter would fit, but you never know. I would rather try something I know will work. Any year 626 from mid 90s to 02 should work.

I've never heard of the vette filter mod, But there is a Filter from the 626 or MZ6 that fits with larger capacity.

Excellent guys thanks so much ill look up the filtering specs for the ZR1 but i think i might just go with the MX-6 filters.. thanks alot for the words guys!

ive never heard of that either, but if theres anyone who can find out if theres any merit to it, edwin (theMAN) is the guy to ask.

That's a common "mod" with PGT/MX-6 guys since it carries more oil and ZR-1 has better quality then the stock PGT/MX-6 (this is from users experience/opinion) but I highly doubt it will fit in protege unless you have smaller size intake manifold since it does restrict the space to use larger diameter oil filter so you could go with 626/PGT/MX-6 oil filter (they use same size)

ZR-1 > PGT/626/MX-6 > Protege 3gen , order of size filter capacity bigger to small.

IMO it won't do any thing for you, if you concerned about oil pressure then you'll need Doc B Racing oil pump set up.
Otherwise if you need more oil just put little more in it.

But there is a Filter from the 626 or MZ6 that fits with larger capacity.

mazda6i has a internal oil filter. so thats not usable.

and yes, the corvette zr1 filter does work. we have been using them in the probe community for years. it doesnt effect oil pressure at all. but is larger.
