87 b2200 wont run

Okay so i recently bought a 1987 B2200 that kind of runs. It will turn over and it idles, but as soon as you try to apply gas the engine stalls out and the truck shuts off.

Before I bought it, the truck sat in this guy's yard (about a year I think) and he didn't use it AT ALL.

I'm fairly certain that the carburetor needs cleaning and that will fix it, but if you guys have any advice on fixing/cleaning/replacing it or if anyone has any alternate theories for why the car stops, much appreciated.

Sounds like the idle circuit in the carb is working and when you give it gas it leans out and dies from being plugged up on the other jets.

I would overhaul the carb and pull the gas tank out to make sure it is not full of gunk.
