6 speed shift boot removal?

Hi guys i have a 2016 cx5 sport 6 speed. I need to remove the shift boot but for some reason it isnt as easy as other cars iv had. Is there a trick to removing the shift boot? most other cars you just pull back and it unclips from the frame

I was looking at this last week. I think the silver trim needs to be removed first. This is just a guess though.

Hope this helps. Once the shift panel is off, I'm sure you'll figure out the boot. The shift knob twists off like every other car.

thanks for that but still no good. the 2016 has the black trim as one big piece running to the front console box. i think i may need to remove the center console completely -__- i just dont want to break anything.

are there any diagrams for 2016 ??
