As most of you know, normally I run a 2000 ZX2 S/R in ST, but yesterday logistics did not work out with my co-owner/driver...and with my needing to take my kids to my sister-in-laws, I ended up runing my completely stock daily-driven 2007 6i in HS on FWD Street Tire index. ("F" class on results)
I have well-worn 20K+ mile Kumho SPTs in 225/45-17...a K&N filter and thats it... And at the end of the day...I came in 2nd behind a RE11 shod GS ACR Turbo Neon. I beat a Kumho XS shod HS MINI...and every RWD street-tire car too. Two AWD cars PAX'd better--so of all the street-tire cars I managed a solid 4th...on 'ordinary' performance tires. Wow...that was fun! The 6 turns out to be remarkably agile in its bone-stock trim. I pumped the fronts up to about 45 and the rears to 39--and it rotated nicely. I did have to drive thru some wheelspin issues, but that was expected...and now I am curoius about doing some dampers and 'decent' tires (Z1s, XSs RE11s etc) ...and running it again the the National Street Tire Challenege in September ( http://scca-milwaukee.org/Solo/2009/nstc.html ). Might be more fun that the ST car being bumped to FSP...
I hope to find some photos to add shortly...but all-in-all, today was about as much fun as I have had in several years. Its nice to jump into a car that has nothing to adjust except tire pressures...and just drive the snot out of it.
