Hey guys, I am coming up on 30K miles and am wondering what type of maintenance I should do. Here is what I am planning:

1. Replace spark plugs
2. Flush Radiator
3. Replace Battery
4. Replace Tires
5. Replace Front Brake pads

Anything else?

Thanks.

Inspect engive valve clearance
of course chang engine oil and filter
Inspect Idle speed
replace air filter
inspect fuel line hoses
lubricate doors and hinges

all of this is based on the Protege/Protege5 Owner's manual

just my input, but unless you got plently of extra cash lying around i dont think its necessary to relace all those things unless theyre worn or need replacing. just check your tires and pads, and if theyve got some tread and padding left save up your money until they actually need changing.

The tires are OK for dry pavement, but getting too low to for winter driving. The pads are also getting low, and I would rather spend the $20 on pads now rather than have to resurface my rotors later.

I will check out changing the tranny fluid too. I finally will have some time off of work to do this stuff before winter, so I figured I would go ahead and do it.

I work for a dealer, trust me dont take it to one for the 30k or you're going to get ripped off... :)

for the 30k on my P5, all I did was change the plugs, air filter, drain and fill the coolant and rotate and balane the tires.... it seems like your pads wore out early, i have 60k on mine and havent had to replace either set... all you really need to do is change the plugs, airfilter, drain and fill the coolant and trans fluid... :)

Thanks. I guess I will just do that then. I'll check the brakes again...maybe I have enough pad left to let them wait....

If you do change your pads, would recommend that you get your old rotors resurfaced as well to ensure a nice a proper contact between the pads and rotor. Can be done in Pepboys.
