I just bought my 07 ms6 and as of now it has 27,174 miles. I put on about 1000 miles and since i left the dealership my 2nd gear kind of grinds. I have bumper to bumper warranty but I was thinking what could be the reason since I could fix it myself. It does not happen often and it is not extreme. It is more annoying and is gettin really irritating. I still have to change the trans oil at 30k and my motormount is stock.

My 1-2 throw was a nightmare, and although it didn't grind, I would get hung up for like 1/4 to 1/2 second or so...you simply couldn't throw it fast. It drove me nuts every day, and several people recommended switching to synthetic tranny fluid and gear oil, and getting a short throw shifter w/ the aluminum bushings. It made all the difference in the world... throws are way faster, and the Stage II shifter reduces the throw distance by 1/3, which makes a huge difference in itself.

I would definitely recommend the fluids asap, and switching to all synthetic. I went with Redline fluids, but there are a couple other brands out there as well. I was so impressed by the improvement in shifting, that I made a couple short vids so people can see the difference. I'm no pro shifter by any stretch, but I could never throw through the gears this quick. The 1-2 throw is still a tiny bit glitchy, but the improvement overall is amazing. The car is 10x more fun to drive IMO.

I do the synthetic fluids first, as that may solve the grinding issue, but I highly recommend the TWM short throw as well. Best of Luck.

PS- The stage II shifter also drops the shifter height by 1", which some people don't like, but I really like it.

kol thanks a lot.....il go to my dealer and see what he says.....i dont want to void my warranty by choosing the wrong trans oil.....dealers can be ass**** about things like that. ill let u know whats up in a few.

You cannot void your warranty by using any kind of oil, as long as it is the proper type of oil for the transmission. If the dealer tries to say you must use a certain Mazda oil, find a different one.

I just had Redline MT-90 put in my transmission on Friday. Before, I was having a real problem with grabby shifts, where I had to hit the shift just right or else the car jumped. After the switch, it's nice and smooth, and even when I miss a shift it's not a head banger. I'm not sure what was going on with the transmission oil, since I just bought mine used a couple weeks ago it's been a hassle until I switched the fluids.

Mine is also a 2007; I'd suggest changing your rear differential and transfer case oil as well (that's Redline 75W90, not 75W90NS). Good luck, hopefully the fluid changes help...I'm a lot happier with the car now for sure.

Those the fluids I used as well. I forget the exact amounts of each, but they should be floating around here somewhere on a sticky or something. Let us know how you make out.
