2022 CX-5 brake question (soft?)

Hello. Does anybody have an issue with softer brakes on the 2022 CX-5. I have owned other cars where the brakes were more responsive. Otherwise, I love this car. Should I be concerned about the brakes. I push down the brakes on the CX-5 a little more than I think is usual. My 3-year warranty expires soon, and I wonder if I should have the brakes checked or anything else? Thank you.

I have a 2021 and, personally, I find the brakes to be fine. Each manufacturer will have different pedal feel. Try driving a 1966 Buick Riviera where the brake pedal is like an on/off switch.

Was it always like that or is it a new feeling? Were the brakes ever checked or replaced? What about brake fluid? I noticed after I changed the brake fluid the brakes felt much tighter.

You should have all four brakes checked and see what shape the pads are in.
Brakes are normal wear items and should be checked at every service.

Thank you for the info! I bought the car about 3 months ago and the brakes still seem kind of soft. Checking and maybe changing the brake fluid is a very good idea.

A little air in the lines might make the pedal soft. Bleeding the brakes will help.

I noticed this during a test drive of 2022 CX-5 also. This has been often noticed on new car reviews I've watched on Youtube also. They usually chalk it up to "linear" feel, etc, etc.

Ended up going with CX-9 and the brakes in that felt more firm/less mush. I always wondered if it was a manufacturing thing with these later year models, or more likely it's just the way they are.

Both our CX-5 and CX-50 have long brake travel - which some might call 'soft'. Personally, I like it. It gives you much easier and more granular control over slowing/stopping.
