Hello. I have a new 2020 CX-9 GT. I'm not really pleased with having my rear plate held on with two screws. Has anyone drilled/added additional screws for the bottom of the plate? Also, does anyone know of a rubber insert that has a female threaded inside that could accept a mounting screw? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

If potential noise is a concern (bottom of the plate vibrating against the liftgate), you can buy https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned) that would eliminate any risk.

I like those silicone plate frames a lot. I just put new plates on my ‘16 today. I forgot how crappy the plate mount area on the the CX-9 is. Just a little bit of something that looks like double sided tape and two holes in the liftgate.

Two bolts holding the plate is more than enough.
To do what you are asking would involve drilling into the tailgate and inserting a plastic/nylon retainer like what sm1ke posted. Those use a 1/4" or 6mm screw, so need around a 3/8" hole; that will take some b@lls to drill that in your ride. LOL
I did this back when I first got my 9 (the plate sits on the paint and was chafing it and rusting), so may be an option for you.....
Cut down some bolts (matching the upper ones) to attach the bottom the plate to the frame.
